See if this helps... click on tools-->titles and credits-->credits at the end-->press the space bar once-->click on 'change the text font and color'-->click on the color box and select color-->click on 'add title'. Then drag it back a bit to overlap your clip. For the sound, right click on it and 'fade out'. Cheers

Right click on your title, select 'edit title', then 'Change the text font and color' and you will see the transparency slider.

Hi, neophyte. You know, i had only used it once. I wanted to make a logo i had created with paint.net, a bit more solid, so i moved the slider an eeny teeny bit to the left and thought, oh! that looks better!. Well, after reading your msg, i went and tried it on that same old logo sliding all the way to the right this time... gues what... it didn't do a thing! So once you save the image with some level of transparency (and close the program), that's it because then you can't reverse it. Hmmm... ...
