Personally I prefer eRightSoft's SUPER, from http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Re: WMM 6, and Convert mp4 5/18/2013 3:54:16 AM   (Total replies: 0)
WMM6 will import MP4 files, but it won't filter them automatically. In import window, enter the filename *.mp4 to reveal just the MP4 files, or *.* to reveal all the files. It should then import the file without issue.

Movie is unavailable, so I hope that means you got it sorted out.

Help! Using WMM 6.1 (Win7 Home 64-bit) & Rehan ShaderTFX PIP 4/25/2013 4:59:15 AM   (Total replies: 1)
I've been out of the video making business for several years now, when I was in I was using uLead MediaStudio Pro 8.0. Alas they were purchased by Corel, the product shelved, I've lost my installation CDs and can't find anyplace to download it... :-( But, it looks like WMM 6.1 might do the job. So I plunked down $15 to register Rehan ShaderTFX, and now I'm trying to figure out how to use the PIP feature. Is there a decent tutorial out there with step-by-step instructions. So far all I've ...

AHA! And I just got it figured out. For those who are also looking for this solution: 1) Place clip/picture "A" on timeline, then place clip/picture "B" on timeline after "A", and adjust size to desired length. 2) Place PIP transition at split between "A" and "B", click on the transition and drag it backwards to the desired amount of time over "A". Timeline will shrink and now show "B" overlayed on "A". I look forward to reading more tips here! Thanks for putting up with my ...

Ticker Tape *AND* Logo? 5/5/2013 2:45:55 AM   (Total replies: 1)
Just curious if there was a way to create a ticker tape effect and tack on a logo at the same time? Ideally what I'd like is a custom graphics for ticker tape that stretches the entire screen, a logo in the bottom-right corner, and the ticker tape effect to stretch across most (not all) of the bottom with the background color blending into the color for the bar behind it. I've tried looking through some examples of both ticker tape and logo .xml files and I'm not seeing a way to combine both ...

So I'm getting good at answering my own questions, I see! :D I'm partially where I want to be already. I've learned how to take the CNN-style ticker tape code and eliminate the background color altogether by modifying the BannerType parameter to "NoBanner". I've also found the Ticker Overlay code (see: http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Forums/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=189309) and I've now got my custom background. Is there a way to shorten how far across the text stretches? I'd like it to ...

I suspect you are right, and I think the best solution would be to have my logo and a copy of my ticker tape background, and use it as a title overlay on a second pass. I'm just worried about the video quality, since every run will compress the video that much more.

OK so maybe I worry too much. Final video comes out looking good enough for YouTube. :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB-jXTlZmXA (warning, possibly NSFW due to language). 1st pass - combining several video clips from SD webcam with a flip effect, opening & closing titles & music 2nd pass - RehanFX PIP+ B Center Left (modified to make window bigger), A has background graphics & ticker overlay, add in ticker content at bottom. 3rd pass - Overlay full-screen title w/ logo in ...

Re: splicing sections from clips 5/20/2013 12:56:55 AM   (Total replies: 1)
Change your view to Timeline mode, then move the player's cursor on the timeline to where you want to cut it. Under the preview window there should be a button that looks like a pair of scissors. If it isn't active, click on the video timeline to activate it. Click the cut button to make your cut at the start and end you want, and then simply drag and drop that piece of video to where you want it. Remove unwanted sections of video simply but clicking on it and pressing the delete key.
