Hi, I'm having a problem playing my MPG videos I've imported from Sony Handycam (using Sony Motion Picture Browser) in Movie Maker. They import fine but when I go to preview them, the preview screen is black and no sound. It appears they have been recognised as Audio files, as they can't be added to the Storyboard, only the Timeline. I can confirm the MPG don't play in Windows Media Player 11 also. Would you suggest I download and installed something like, K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (http://www.codecguide.com/about_mega.htm), to resolve this problem or is converting to AVI the best option. I didn't use Movie Maker in XP, so this is all new to me sorry. Cheers.

Ok I'm happy to go down the conversion route then!. Could it be possible for you to recommend a good, and free MPEG to AVI converter please? I've done a Google search and there are loads on offer. Some look better (and more reliable!) than others, and I worried I might install some dodgy software. Thanks for all your advise and help.
