Windows Live MM no longer offered/supported by MS? 1/11/2014 11:06:48 AM   (Total replies: 2)
apparently not due to obscure security issues---- but it is available on this web site, right? I'm quite happy with MM 6 on my old Vista machine- other than it won't load .mp4 files the way Live will... So, should risk installing Live? I know there are many programs available for converting files from one type into another, but it would be much nicer to do everything with one program. I could also purchase a commercial program- it's not about the money, I'm just not sure which ...

latest Movie Maker on Windows 8 + GoPro videos? 10/7/2014 9:56:56 AM   (Total replies: 1)
OK, I'm close to buying a high end Dell. One option in the purchase is Sony Movie Studio 13. That got me to reviewing other editors and now I'm really confused. I got MM when I got a new high end Dell in '07 and I've enjoyed the program. For what I was doing until recently, it was all I needed. But now I have a GoPro and the old MM won't load GoPro's MP4 files. So, I've seen some mixed reviews of Windows MM Live. I believe for awhile, maybe still true, that MS was warning people not ...

Blue Ray vs. DVD 8/27/2013 8:40:25 AM   (Total replies: 2)
I understand that Blue Ray disks support HD videos. But, if I publish a HD video using WMM to a standard DVD, what do I lose compared to publishing it to a Blue Ray disk, assuming I had a Blue Ray burner? By publishing to a DVD- is the resolution lowered? I realize the bit rate is far less- but overall, is the quality reduced by much? If so, I guess it's time to spring for a BR burner. Joe

Blaine, I installed it and experimented with a short clip, running it at 6x- and, voila, it worked! I really get a kick out of time-lapse videos so I can't wait to give it a serious try. thanks! Joe

Blaine, just curious, but can you give us a hint how you or whoever produced this plug in? I used to program, so I'm curious. Joe

By the way, if anyone wants to see a really amazing "time lapse" check out: http://berkshirewindcoop.com/. Then click on the link for the video which shows the contruction of a wind turbine on a mountain top in western Massachusetts. The turbine is almost 500' tall. The video plays for about 10 minutes. I'm a forester who manages private forests lands in Mass. and I'd like to do a time lapse of a logging job. After seeing the construction of that turbine- with all the workers and ...

considerate guy, I finally got around to trying your suggestion but I can't find it in MM. Joe

speed up video? 10/16/2011 4:25:09 PM   (Total replies: 1)
Is it possible with MM 6 to speed up video? I recently saw a video of the construction of a 500' tall wind turbine on a mountain top- some days worth of video was speeded up and shown in something like 20 minutes. It was very impressive. If this is not possible with MM, any suggestions of a video editing program I could purchase that will do it? Though I like MM- and I'm still a rank amateur, I'm tempted to purchase a more professional program- so suggestions on what to purchaws will be ...
