PIP different, rehan???

hey rehan, or anyone else concerned

I was wondering if you could make PIP transitions that were only quater of a whole window instead of ninths of a window

so you would have PIP top left, PIP top right, PIP bottom left, PIP bottom right

What does current events show about George Bush's Management Skills?

I will step out on a limb here, and say that you can't
do it with Rehan's PIP transitions. The transition that
he uses is based on a transition that moves a window
from the center towards a corner, but he uses the "Progress
Param" to freeze it at a specific point. I think you can get
it close, but not actually get the window to fit snug in a corner.
You might have better luck with Compositor Transition
that Papajohn uses. It would be similar to that
Bradybunch transition described here:

Borders could probably be used to make Rehans's
work....or may even be needed for the Compositor transition.
You have to keep each of the 4 windows at the
right perspective...so you don't have complete freedom.

Rehan can of course tell me I am wrong, and show us both
how it is done.

dlk is right... it can't be done by strictly using with the technique in current PIP transitions. The exact placement is problematic since the unit of movement in 3D space is same in both directions x and y. However due to the ratio of 4:3 the movement needs to be slightly more in x direction than in y. i.e one unit in y should be equal to 1.333 (4/3) untis in x.

Anyway, if it is to be done at only one or two places in the movie one can use the following "effects" for resize and movement. The combination of effects when applied to a clip/picture can place it anywhere in the visible picture area... This is perhaps a new kind of PIP effects.

On clip B:
1. Apply "Size half"
2. Apply "Move right"
3. Apply "Move up"

This clip can then be combined with clip A using "Chroma key: Black" transition. Note: Size Half needs to be applied prior to move effects.

What i meant was if you could do a pip effect like top right (like the one you have now) but bigger. so it was like a television news presentor story background pic ya know?

So all you want is the change of size in the pip transitions as currently on my website?

If so then please confirm what size size you want. You say quarter but then u said bigger!!! Note: A quarter is smaller than a third.

Anyway the size is sepecified by the ScaleA and InitialScaleA parameters e.g. the top left pip effect would become:

<Transition name="PIP, top left" iconid="1">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="0.25" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="0.25" />
<Param name="MoveA" value="left, up" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.30" />
</Transition>

The restrictions I was talking about previously were about placement of the small window. It can only be placed along vertical horizontal and diagonal axes.
