why this Movie maker 2.0 crashes.. plz urgent

| I faced a very serious problem in movie maker. When i am going to save the movie ,in the place where i have to set the settings of saving movie in different format.. there its written "No LOC needed - Autolayout placeholder string" and when i click the setting its crashes.. so whats the trouble. . plz help me thanks |

I'm not familiar with the error, but I see a number of hits when doing online searching for it. Issues, but no answer stands out so far. You're not the first to run into it.
If you've done what my page suggests, then it's not a normal crash or hang situation. If no-one provides any suggestions, try searching the web and checking all those hits about the error message.
For further comments here, I'd need to know a bit about your past history of using MM2, when the issue started, what kind of project you're trying to save (types of source files being used).... all the possibly pertinent tidbits so there's some clues to work with. |

I checked some more and found this note on my own Problem Solving > MM2 Will Not Install or Run page....
5/24/04 email - the Save Movie to computer window was odd looking and had a message 'No LOC needed - Autolayout placeholder string' and choosing Other Settings resulted in an MM2 crash. > A followup email said it was resolved by installing the Windows Media Encoder. |

| glad it worked... and thanks for the feedback. I revised my website page to add this 2nd instance of the issue being resolved, and also added the info to the Crashes and Hangs page. |

My SOLUTION for crash on startup (in XP)...

| MM2 was crashing on startup with the usual frustration. I decided to look at the qedit.dll issue. I delete qedit.dll from WINDOWS\system32 and immediately start Movie Maker before Windows has time to replace the file, which it does very quickly. I then quickly load a project. (Not sure if that last step is also necessary to avoid a crash.) Now I'm waiting for it to crash while I'm working on a project, which I'm sure it will. I'm still with XP; not interested in Vista. Not that I love XP either. |

During saving and editing my video, an error message will randomly pop up saying windows movie maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. I don't know why this is happening, can someone help me??
