Sun Burst Effect?
Posted: 27 Aug 2006 05:30 AM
Ok, I've found this effect once before, and forget what it's actually called. But I can't find it again and it's driving me crazy!

First of all, this has nothing to do with GIMP or HitTheBongo's effects. This is more of a light enhancement effect. Not overlaying images or anything of that sort.

For instance the light colors (white, bright yellow) on a sunset/sunrise sort of "explode?" and get brighter and brighter, until the screen is a completely white.

I was unable to find any sort of video clips that have this effect, although I do remember seeing some homemade movies that people made using WMM and achieved exactly what I want.

Not exactly what you ask but here is some Fade Through Color transitions, I made earlier:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}" comment="masks">
<Transition name="RehanFX Fade Through WHITE" iconid="0" >
<Param name="MaskNum" value="119" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0xFFFFFF" />
<Param name="OffsetX" value="-3200" />
<Param name="OffsetY" value="-2400" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="RehanFX Fade Through BLUE" iconid="0" >
<Param name="MaskNum" value="119" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0x0000FF" />
<Param name="OffsetX" value="-3200" />
<Param name="OffsetY" value="-2400" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="RehanFX Fade Through RED" iconid="0" >
<Param name="MaskNum" value="119" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0xFF0000" />
<Param name="OffsetX" value="-3200" />
<Param name="OffsetY" value="-2400" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="RehanFX Fade Through GREEN" iconid="0" >
<Param name="MaskNum" value="119" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0x00FF00" />
<Param name="OffsetX" value="-3200" />
<Param name="OffsetY" value="-2400" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="RehanFX Fade Through BLACK" iconid="0" >
<Param name="MaskNum" value="119" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="320" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0x000000" />
<Param name="OffsetX" value="-3200" />
<Param name="OffsetY" value="-2400" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Copy paste the xml code into notepad and Save As fadethroughcolor.xml in folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX. Create the AddOnTFX folder if necessary. Confirm the file has .xml extension by turning off the "hide extensions of known file types" from Explorer > Tools > Folder options > View. Restart WMM.

The Fade Through WHITE is closest to what you asked. Hope you like these ones. Here is a sample.

I don't understand why that's different from the existing fade out to white effect, maybe backed up with a white card.

These are transitions. The existing one is an effect. Otherwise the same. If you had to do the transitions using the equivalent effects you need to apply the effect twice. The transitions simpliefies the two steps into one.

Coolboy, The "fade through black" is already present above so dont know what you mean.
