Opening & Closing Sliding Door Transition
Posted: 27 Aug 2004 11:32 AM
Hey all, my first post, so a big hello to everyone!

For my latest creation, I'd like to have a transition which consists of a still image of a sliding door (a bit like star trek where the door has a left section and a right section that both move sidewards to open and then back again to close). The door image would effectively be split in half vertically and the left side would slide left and the right side would side right, revealing a video stream behind. After the video is finished (or after a specified time), the left and right 'doors' would move back in and cover the video.

Does this sound possible? Any pointers to how to do this in XML?

Thanks in advance.

For the opening...I would think you could use an image of a double
door and the "split, vetical" transition. However...not sure if the
edges of the door would transition properly. You could use a solid
colored image for the door, and the following variation of the transition.
This gives you a border on your door, of a specific width and color.
I coded the RGB for black, and a width of 30. I am thinking
this is so specific, I doubt anyone would want it.
Also...closing the door is a problem. I don't see a way to
reverse the transition. Perhaps some kind of reverse video
trick in combination with this transition.
Reverse the clip....
Open the door on the reversed clip
Save that. Then reverse the whole thing
Seems like a lot of work, and makes my head hurt.
