Transition request
Posted: 16 Jul 2006 02:05 PM
Hi ALL!!

I'm a very newbie here. This is my first post, but I have wandered and read the post here since I joined. First I wanna thanks Blaine, hitthebongo and Rehan, coz i visited their sites, and used their effects for my projects, a LOT!! Thanks guys, you are the best...and I also wanna thanks all the other forum members who have helped me, thanks a lot guys!!

Now, if you guys don't mind, I have an effect request here. I was wondering if there any of you ever made this kind of effect. I use MM to make a movie out of photos, like a slideshows. And I'm looking for transition effect like : the picture is falling apart, the picture is shattered, like it was blown out by the wind. maybe like the pixelatte effect, but more sophisticated.

Ok then, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again, guys!!

I don't really understand what u mean, coz I lived in Indonesia and maybe the cartoon you meant is not available here. Point is, u know, like the picture is falling apart, or like a window break. And for the wind-blowing transitions, it's like the shattered one, but the pieces is like flying scattered, and..uh, you know what I mean... LOL

Anyway, do you guys know how to make this kinda transition :

Pic A slide in from left to middle, Pic B slide in from right to middle, and both collide right on the center of the screen. Pic A and B slide in in the same time. And maybe, for the perfection of the transition, when both pics collide, it shake a bit....

Maybe it's too much request, but I believe it is possible, especially when I asked you guys in this forum... thanks again!!

You could try creating a custom shatter transition. Here's an example of the XML needed with all the parameters specified. Copy/paste this to Notepad, then save in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX as shattercustom.xml. Then restart WMM.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{C63344D8-70D3-4032-9B32-7A3CAD5091A5}">
<Transition name="Shatter, Custom" iconid="76" comment="Shatter">
<Param name="InternalName" value="ParticleSystem" />
<Param name="ScatterDirection" value="down, out" />
<Param name="ParticleSpeed" value="1.0" />
<Param name="SpinDirection" value="down" />
<Param name="ParticleSpinSpeed" value="1.0" />
<Param name="MaxParticles" value="200" />
<Param name="Gravity" value="5" />
<Param name="RandomizeSpeed" value="2.0" />
<Param name="BothDirections" value="false" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

If you want to customize it further, you can set the parameters however you like:

ScatterDirection
left, right, up, down, in, out
Direction in which pieces of the first video will move, where "in" means away from the viewer, and "out" means toward the viewer. You may choose more than one direction, so "up, left" makes the pieces move to the upper left of the screen.

ParticleSpeed
> 0.0
The speed at which the pieces move.

SpinDirection
left, right, up, down, in, out
Direction in which the pieces of the first video will rotate, where "in" means toward the screen and "out" means away from the screen. Choose only one direction.

ParticleSpinSpeed
> 0.0
How fast the particles spin.

MaxParticles
3 to 1000
Maximum number of particles in the scene.

Gravity
> 0.0
Vertical acceleration of the particles.

RandomizeSpeed
Any number
Randomization multiplier. Set to 0 (zero) to make the speed uniform for all particles.

BothDirections
true or false
If true, particles will move in both directions with equal probability.

Anyway, what's the xml code for text on top of the video again??

I lost all the effects and transitions I have collected, coz before re-installing my XP, I had to format my C: drive, and I don't have any backup on my files. Lucky I put all my project on D:...

"If you lose money, you lose nothing;

agreed

If you lose friends, you lose someting;

I guess depending on circumstances - like if you lost because they were social friends and not real friends then no real loss at all

If you lose reputation, you lose EVERYTHING"

agreed but is this fettered by who CAUSED the loss and if it was in good faith? ie was it really a loss of reputation or just a staged event and you kept dignity

Text on top of video? Please be more specific... All the titles can be placed on top of your selected video clip.

Hi 'Don',

Welcome to the forum. I am not sure if you found a solution for your 'Smash' effect but there is an effects called Smash! In my 'starter pack' at my site.
