Well this is supposed to fade in/out from farious colours but they all fade in/out to/from black! It has to be something to do with the HEX values but what?

Instead if using the color code #ffffff use the code 0xffffff or whatever numbers you want. It tends to work better.

This effect DLL does not accept the color value in html format. You need to specify the Hex color values such as 0xBBGGRR.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{EC85D8F1-1C4E-46e4-A748-7AA04E7C0496}">
<Effect name="Fade In From Red" iconid="9">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x0000FF" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade Out To Red" iconid="10">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="0" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x0000FF" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade In From Green" iconid="9">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x00FF00" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade Out To Green" iconid="10">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="0" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x00FF00" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade In From Yellow" iconid="9">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x00FFFF" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade Out To Yellow" iconid="10">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="0" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0x00FFFF" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade In From Blue" iconid="9">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0xFF0000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Fade Out To Blue" iconid="10">
<Param name="FadeIn" value="0" />
<Param name="FadeColor" value="0xFF0000" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Instructions for new comers: Copy paste the xml code into notepad and Save As colorfades.xml in folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX. Create the AddOnTFX folder if necessary. Confirm the file has .xml extension by turning off the "hide extensions of known file types" from Explorer > Tools > Folder options > View. Restart WMM.

Rehan's exactly right --- check the Microsoft article about the FadeColor parameter. For more details, read the following post: view post 53078

I don't get it. I realise you ned to go BGR as apose to RGB. Even when I do it that way it doesn't work. So I give up. Can someone give me the HEX for:

Red
Green
Yellow
Blue

Bright red is normally "0xFF0000" (0xRRGGBB), but switch the first and last two characters and you have FadeColor="0x0000FF" (0xBBGGRR) instead. Don't ask me why they switched this... but again, the other post (view post 53078) explains it very well. Don't forget to specify the color using 0x... notation rather than #...
