Full Transparant Transition
Posted: 12 Aug 2004 02:08 PM
Now you can make "ghosts" :), after a few hours checking out and testing my xml.
I've created this code:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{C63344D8-70D3-4032-9B32-7A3CAD5091A5}">
<Transition name="Full Transparancy" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.5" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>

</TransitionsAndEffects>

Save in the AddOnTFX folder as transparant.xml or something. Then open moviemaker, add 2 movies to the storyboard, put this effect as transition. The second movie will be on top of the first one, transparant.

That would be more correct. Thanks again, I need to wait in the future before I post here until I'm clearly awake and not sleepy.

Made some adjustments, now you can choose how transparant the movie must be:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{C63344D8-70D3-4032-9B32-7A3CAD5091A5}">
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy,50%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.5" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 90%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.1" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 80%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.2" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 70%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.3" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 60%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.4" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 40%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.6" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 30%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.7" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 20%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.8" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Semi Transparancy, 10%" iconid="36">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1" />
<Param name="FadeStartA" value="0" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.9" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>

</TransitionsAndEffects>

Important info: Mute the sound from one of the 2 clips. And check doublecheck for movie-errors, like objects that where placed somewhere else in the first clip. And don't let the actors meet the ghost in one shot or they will be ghosts too! Found out just a minute ago.

Good stuff. Keep it up !

Note you dont need these parameters: InitialScaleA, ScaleA as the values used are the default ones. Furthermore, using the 3D class to do transparency is slightly ineffecient, why ot use the "Fade Transition" directly:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{16B280C5-EE70-11D1-9066-00C04FD9189D}">
<Transition name="Translucent 0.5" iconid="12" >
<Param name="Progress" value="0.5" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

and the different ways to use custom transitions and effects keeps rolling out..... really wonderful!!!!!

I read all of these posts with lots of interest, and I'm looking forward to the day when Rob implements the corner of his site that has downloadable xml files and/or a neatly structured way to view them.

I'm open to hosting the info on my website if it's not done by Rob or Rehan or someone else. I'd like to provide more info and links today, but so many of the posts are experiments rather than finished products and it's often hard to tell one from another.

.... I'm back to reading and sometimes trying one.... thanks

I'm also programming a piece of software to adjust the standard effects/transitions (the one's that can be modified) and save them. I'm quite finished, just a few icon's and a good name and it's ready for bètatesting.

Here are some sneakpreviews:

Sneakpreview

Features:

-Transitions:
-Chroma (choose color of chroma)
-Luminance
-Nonredkey (Similarity chooser)
-Wheel (choose spokes)
-Wipe (blur and direction)

-Effects:
-Age
-Age (Advanced settings)
-Blur
-Brightness
-Fade (in/out to custom color)
-Hue
-Pixelate
-Speed (0.1x to 4x normal speed)

This is already done, more stuff comes soon.

Long time that I've been here. The project halted in September, due to the start of a new schoolyear. I still have all the code and stuff, so propably I'll release it some day. For free, cuz I don't want to get into trouble with the gouvernment and also with crackers and other leeches. This would be the best solution for everyone. But don't except it soon, I'll start working on it again next summer.

The software is comming up within a few weeks, a found some bugs. But the main reason for the delay is that I have a new job since a month and it's eating me upSmileyI post a new thread to announce it, so don't ask here if it's done yet. You'll see it when it's done.

The music came from Sounddogs.com and I don't have a clue what I entered to find it and I haven't got the original file anymore. But if you strip the music out of the clip, it should be complete from what I remember.

Welcome to the forum...

That transition is the easiest of all. In the timeline view of a project, grab the clip on the right and drag it to the left so it overlaps the one at its left. The overlap will automatically be a fade transition as you want it.
