Help with a title sequence
Posted: 20 Apr 2006 06:30 PM
Hi! First time on the forum!

I was wondering if anyone could be of any assistance. Basically I am trying to create a mock 'title sequence' based on the sequence from the TV show Angel. The problem I am having is that the proper credits have a moving border around the edges, and the main video clip with the actor credit in the middle. I am not sure how to replicate this. I have a link to a fan made angel clip that gives an example of what I mean, because I am not sure I am explaining it well!

Sorry for the double post

I was thinking, i saw that its possible to overlap videos, is it possible to edit that existing one so that the top video is smaller, and not seethrough? Then i could take the existing title sequence, and overlap my own video into the centre

How about a frozen (static) SPLIT transition? This is just like the SPLIT transitions that Rehan made, but this is the rectangle transition frozen at 64%, rather than 50%. And the border isn't as soft.

Copy this into Notepad, save in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX as splitrectborder.xml

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}">
<Transition name="SPLIT: Rectangle Border" iconid="39">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="101" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.64" />
<Param name="BorderSoftness" value="4" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Restart WMM. You'll have a new transition called 'SPLIT: Rectangle Border'. Put this between your two clips (outside clip first, then inside clip). Drag them so they overlap as much as possible. Note: don't overlap completely or you'll lose the transition.

Tell us how it turns out. This doesn't include any lettering which would probably be done as a title overlaid on the combined clip. That's not too difficult to do. And you may want to look into custom 'tint' effects to make your background clip be purple, green, etc. as needed. Search the forums for 'tint highlight' and I think you'll find a few threads on the subject.

I just had a try now, the size of the inner clip was slightly too small, so I altered changed it from 64 to 74, and that fitted perfectly. I will have a look at the tinting now, once again, thanks for your help!
