Absolutely certain it's not there....should appear with the desert icon, right? There's nothing new..

One thing that maybe is odd is the fact that I can't preview any of the transitions. i seem to remember---but may be wrong with this--being able to select a transition without even putting any of your own video into the program, and being able to hit "play" and watch the transition play between the bliss scene and the desert....I cannot currently do that...should i be able to, and, if I should, might that have something to do with the problem?

i've also tried getting the greenscreen transition to work on my other computers and i have the same problem...so it's either me or some configuration that i have on all the computers...

Video effects have icons that look like a hillside. Video Transitions have different icons and are in a different folder. Looking at the XML code posted earlier it should be listed in the Video Transitions under 'Non-Red Chroma key' with icon #11 (a diamond shape with 4 arrows pointing outward).

Right...got all that..but there's still nothing in the Transitions folder (blue and white icons)...

This is very annoying because I really have no idea what could have gone wrong, and I need this feature really as soon as possible

Save it in the AddOnTFX folder as name.xml the name part doesn't matteras long as it has .xml at the end

Copy paste the xml code into notepad and Save As greenscreen.xml in folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX. Create the AddOnTFX folder if necessary. Restart WMM. To get it to save an an xml file just make the name anything.xml

I tried to put in the chroma and green screen codes but my computer says that it cannot accept the .xml file. How do you put it in as a transition or effect.

First, this is an older thread. The greenscreen transition mentioned here expects a perfect match on the RGB value for green. It won't work for real life situations filmed in front of a greenscreen. Your best bet is to use the bluescreen transition (view post 39567) instead since it allows for variance in the color of blue.

Are you following the instructions in that post (view post 39567)? It gives the full instructions to save the Bluescreen transition and how to use it. You need a clip filmed in front of a blue screen, and another clip to be the background... details in the post.

Did you restart WMM and look under your 'Video Transitions' folder? Also, consider the bluescreen transition instead since it allows you to have tolerance in the shades of blue, while the green version expects an exact RGB of 0x00FF00 (which you won't get in real life recording).

Right, in my shared folder I now have a Bluescreen.xml. Problem is do I have to actually save it In AddOnTFX? Cause mine is only in shared. Also I don't actually know how to restart WMM.

Right hold on hold on, I had AddOnTFX saved as a text document for some reason. I've made that a folder now and put Bluescreen.xml in that. So I think all I need to do now is restart WMM. How?

i've tried the Bluescreen out and to be honest, it's pretty poor. there's patches of blue everywhere. My background is quite a dark blue however and this just make's the matter worse. It's ashame that all the good chroma keying stuff has to be bought:/

I'm having the same problem. All day long. I've tried everything. Nothing is working to where I see it in the transitions list.

HardyDude3, it sounds like you are on Windows Vista or Windows 7 using WMM 6.0? If that is the case you should be using ShaderTFX for WMM 6.0 (view post 126998)

mjohnson, please provide some more details on which version of Movie Maker you are using. (Help > About Movie Maker, last line). Also, are you trying for green screen or blue screen. Green screen doesn't work very well in WMM 2.1, only blue screen.
