STOIK Video Converter (Free) is a video converter that can import and export into many different formats. Although it is free it will ask you for you to enter your email address before downloading but if you don't want to enter an email then enter a made-up one (eg: thisaddressisfake@fakeemails.com) as it will accept ti anyway.

Mediacoder is another 'universal' converter, though I've not tried it.

I mentioned Super Video Encoder on another thread , but I see that "someperson" was already in the know about this fantastic encoder. Good shout someperson111 !

STOIK is still my favourite AVI to wmv encoder , but SUPER Convertor seems to take care of everything else with the added bonus that it's very easy to use.

Yea it really is good, but don't use the wmv converter on it, it stuffs up a lot.

Ha! I did notice that the sound and video were out of sync on a rendered wmv file - to be fair though it does say that the wmv encoding is "Experimental"

I notice that it is also possible to render reverse video using one of the direct show options - there always seems to be people asking how to do that on this forum.

Thought I'd post this.

I've been playing around with superconverter a little bit more converting clips from a PAL dvd and converting to wmv. The Audio/video sync problems seem to have gone away :-)
Here is a screen capture of settings I have used. I'm not suggesting these are definitive settings to use , but I'm more than happy with the resultant wmv video.

I really do like this software !

I have youtubeget so I can take flv formats and download them to make cool movies (like youtube videos)... But there is a problem, It doesn't work! The format of the wmv's (when I convert them) are corrupt in some way that just hates WMM. I try to import the video, but it freezes every time! Is there a diffrence between zune wmv's and WMM compatable wmv's? Moreover, will this program take these files and convert them into a format that I can actually work with in WMM? I need a converter that can...

Are you a vista user ? On another thread a vista user reported movie maker crashing when importing vids created in a different programme. No solution was never found unfortunately.

Try saving your files to the DV=AVI format instead
