PiP... again :P
Posted: 29 Jun 2004 07:25 AM
Hey, I'm trying to get my PiP (in the corner) to be the same distance from the top or bottom as it is from whichever side. (X pixels from [top/bottom] X pixels from [left/right]) I tried using the xml file from the PiP tutorial on the site about the grand canyon but as soon as it hits the transition it freezes on the last frame played. And if you try starting from the transition it just stay black, so I can't use the xml file in the tutorial let alone edit it to achieve the result I want.

Thanks for any help provided,
Streety

Hi Streety,

Is that what you're seeing in the preview mode or the final saved movie?

Previewing doesn't show it..... so you have to save the movie on faith that it'll work.

Well it didn't work in final save either... did exactly the same thing. I remember seeing someone said something once about Movie Maker 2.1? I'm not sure if I have that I think I've got 2... could it be needed to make it work? Also does it matter that the filmed stuff was not shot in widescreen mode?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure if there is a Movie Maker 2.1 but I thought there was?

Either way I saved it and it didn't work so any idea what's wrong? Was the original file wrong?

For my Grand Canyon tutorial, the video was shot in widescreen mode on my camcorder, and all my MM2 work was done in widescreen. And the tutorial was done using MM2.0 - so it must be in your XML file settings or whatever else you are doing.

All I did was save the file in the AddOnTFX folder and then try to use it and it didn't work. It seems to not have much of a reference to PiP in it... maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Am I meant to combine that XML with the original PiP XML file?

Is there going to ne a way we can upload movies so that people can see what other have made? I'd be interested to see what kind of problem people are having and visually seeing them would be great.

Streety,

No, you don't combine XML files.... just tweak the same one. At least that's how I did it for the tutorial. It's getting hard to comment on something you can't see. Maybe post your XML file info.

The XML files is the one off the tutorial, all I did is download it and put it in AddOnTFX and it didn't work.

Maybe someone could just edit the original PiP file for me just using the right parameters to position it as far from the top/bottom as it is from the left/right I should be able to work it out from that.

Anyone? All I did was download the XML file from the tutorial and it didn't work even after I saved it. I think it's got something to do with the widescreen bit so could anyone show me how to edit one of Rehan's originals so that you can place it as far from the bottom as it is from the right, say 20 pixels?

This is what I wrote to get the P-I-P in the bottom right. My coordinates might be off from what you want, but it should be close. It worked for me so hopefully it works for you.
