Need help Saving the Vid
Posted: 13 Feb 2006 01:22 PM
I have made severel vids without ever having any trubble, but this time I just cant save the project to my hard disk. Its a huge and masive movie with more than a thousand cuts and many details with sources located in different folders. I figure that could be a problem.
What I have tried to do is:
trying to locate the "bad sources" by deleating major parts of the movie until I was able to save it. Adding and removing parts of the movie finally revevealed a few groups of clips that seemed to cause the trubble BUT I wanst possible for me to nail it down to a certain clip cause it seem to work and then not work again at random. Eventually I got the the impression that the almost finished movie was working looking like this A++++++++B---C++++++D. In other words, I could located some kind of problem in the center of the movie. I then tried coping C to D into a new a new project and tryed testing if it would save this part correctly... it would and that lead me to the idea than maybe A to B and C to D would work if I just copy pasted them into a new project leaving only B to C back. This way I wouldnt have to make everything all over, but what stunned me was that it wouldnt work. Even tho A to B and C to D would work singlehandedly in each their own new project then I could not make A to B + C to D work...
The original sources form witch the clips are from takes up about 30 GB space and being somewhat superspecious I thought maybe I would get into trubble with my 20GB free disc space even tho the program only seem to req some 80 MB when asked to save to disc.
At an ealier stage I tryed saving the movie and had a similar problem, but after I rebooted it worked and I didnt think about any further. But this I experinced severel unprovocated freezes that forced me into "ctrl. alt. delete" to shut the program down.
I then thought it could be the program, maybe something was currupt... and I began looking for a way to remove the moviemaker form the computer. first I made a copy and a copy og my projects since I didnt know how much would be removed if I was able to remove the program. But I wasnt able to find a way to remove it (maybe someone knows how or at least how to attempt repairing the program). I then found an older version 2.0 that I downloaded in hope it could work, but when I tryed to install it nothing really happened... as if windows detected that and already better vesion was there or something...
I really hope someone out there can help me since I have invested over 60 hours in this movie and I am all out of ideas...

what format are you trying to save as... .avi or .wmv

I don't know why...but I have trouble with the .avi on very large projects....and I have very little trouble if I save my large films as .wmv (High Quality Large)

Cuss, act rude... be ungrateful....go ahead, make my day!

ehm? are there no others who has any ideas? I kinda have a deadline next wensday and I hope I can make it by then... 75% of the movie is done, but I just find it rather senseless to move on when I dont know if saving it will be possibleSadI need to know soon if i am to try and redo the whole thing, but atm in scared that its maybe the program thats corrupt or something and by remaking it I will just run into the same problems... I really beg for help :(

Dude, I wish I had an answer, but I don't.

Next time break up your movie into smaller portions like the movie industry does.

Go check out PapaJonh's site under the "Problem Solving - Can't Save My Movie Section.

Good luck!
