How to remove camera shake in video clips
Posted: 02 Dec 2005 11:22 AM
Hi

Does any one if WMM2.1 can remove camera shake (or put it another way, image stabilisation) from video clips?

I know Adobe Premier can do that but I can't afford that.

One of my family members took the wedding video for our cousins and the video came out with lots of camera shake becuase he wasn't hold the camera properly.

Is there anyway to removing camera shake throught WMM2.1?

I've browsed through PapaJohn's site and queried Google but nothing comes up.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

I've also seen software "stabilization" in Pinnacle Studios (not as expensive as Adobe Premiere). Essentially it zooms your video in about 5-10% and then the software tries to find similar elements from each frame. It attempts to place the intended subject in the main area of the screen, to counteract a little bit of shaking. However, if you have "lots of camera shake", as you noted in your post, even this method may not work for you.

I believe Pinnacle has a trial version of their program, so you might want to try that out first to see if it does what you need before buying the program outright.

Thanks for your reply.

So, does it mean that WMM2 doesn't support image stabilisation?

That is correct. Another option that I just found was 'Deshaker' and 'VirtualDub'. Check out this website for details. Again, this will work for a small amount of shaking, but can't correct "lots of shaking"...
