What I do.

1. Import sample movie.

2. Edit - Text in the end of movie.

And boom it just crash. After 5 seconds. I'm not klicking on anything.

Then I get a Windows Movie Maker popup after I had done Ctrl+Alt+Delete and close the program.

Telling me this:

szAppName : moviemk.exe szAppVer : 2.0.3312.0 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

And the error files are:

C:\DOCUME~1\Johan\LOKALA~1\Temp\WER328.tmp.dir00\moviemk.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Johan\LOKALA~1\Temp\WER328.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt

Anyone had this error?

Might be a fairly common codec or acceleration issue. Check the Problem Solving > Acceleration and Codecs page of my site.

... my website isn't here... it's at www.papajohn.org

I have that same error. When I did a search on these on my computer, I found that the file "moviemk.exe.mdmp" wasn't on my computer. So I think that may be the problem. So, I would suggest goign to microsoft. com to re-install it. I'm pretty angry about this.

I had the same error too... I fixed it, thanks to this post I found on another forum.

"I had this problem, that WMM crashed every time I started it. None of the tips I found here solved the problem. I had been using it for some time so something had changed. I realized that one of the clips I had imported had an illegal file name - it contained a comma and other odd characters (downloaded from the internet). I could not remove it from the collection as the program crashed before I could remove it. Even deleting the folder in Program Files and reinstalling didn't help - the imported clip names were still there, though it couldn't find them, so they had big red crosses through them, and it still crashed.

Eventually I found a file called MEDIATAB1.DAT in folder
"C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Movie Maker" where <user name> is the profile name.
I deleted it, and all my clips disappeared, including the one with the illegal name.
Now I make sure all my clips have legal names, and WMM works fine.

You might try this, or rename the file so you can restore it if it doesn't solve the problem."

I changed my file name from 'FMA 01 - To Challenge the Sun (engdub)' to just 'FMA01' and it worked just fine. Maybe that'll help some of you people?
