Wipe Transition
Posted: 03 Nov 2005 11:15 PM
Since you have all be so helpful in the past with requests, I decided to try one more. I am looking for a transition that uses a color bar moving from left to right to do the transition. I would like to be able to control the color and width of the bar. Can anybody help? Thanks for your help.

You mean a color bar that basically wipes the first clip as it shows the second? If that's the case try something like this:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}" comment="DxtJpeg/SMPTE wipes">
<Transition name="Color Bar Wipe: Red" iconid="41" comment="red color bar">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="1" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0xCC0000" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="5" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

To control the color of the bar edit the "BorderColor" value by entering something like "0xwhatever" (for color references check this link). To modify the width edit the "BorderWidth" value by entering higher numeral values. Give it a try ;).

Thank you for the quick response. Is it possible to soften the edges of the bar?

Yes it is possible ;). Just add this line, <Param name="BorderSoftness" value="X.0" />. Simply edit the "X" and enter a # value. The only thing you need to remember however, is that the code adds blurry edges to the bar. Which means that the bar becomes bigger in a sense. So you might have to modify the "BorderWidth" line again to adjust it to the size you want it (sometimes if necessary enter negative [ - ] values).
