letterbox vs. split center?
Posted: 15 Oct 2005 04:21 PM
okay so i wondering if someone can lend a helping hand!
my prob is that when i use the split center transition its just what i want but covers to much of the screen that i want shown..but when i use letterbox it is a thin strip!
so i dont know how to alter the numbers to make the strip it to where i would like it!
i was wondering if someone can alter the letter box to make the line like almost twice it size like add 3/4 of its strip size already! or alter the split screen center and make it to where a fourth of the strip line is taken away.
i have no idea how to alter the numbers and do it myself..but i hope its clear what im trying to say.
i just needed less of that huge strip that split center offers , but more of the small strip that letterbox offers...hope thats clearer!
thanks everyone

have a look at the XML of the "SPLIT: Center, Horizontal" transition:

...
<Transition name="SPLIT: Center, Horizontal" iconid="22">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="22" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.5" />
</Transition>
...

Experiment with different values for progress parameter. Try 0.75

i copied and pasted this,changed the value and saved it as an xml in the add on folder
restarted the wmm and its still not showing up..the only Split:Center,horizontal that appears is the one i had to begin with that has the larger strip in it..but nothing is changed.

I never said you copy paste it.

You seemed to know how to edit the original XML file. This was the section within the original XML file to be edited.

You can copy paste the following code:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}">
<Transition name="SPLIT: Cnt Horz 0.75" iconid="22">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="22" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.75" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="SPLIT: Cnt Horz 0.6" iconid="22">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="22" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.6" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="SPLIT: Cnt Horz 0.66" iconid="22">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="22" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.66" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Copy paste the xml code into notepad and Save As malinasplit.xml in folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX. Create the AddOnTFX folder if necessary. Confirm the file has .xml extension by turning off the "hide extensions of known file types" from Explorer > Tools > Folder options > View. Restart WMM.
