Almost fade to black
Posted: 08 Oct 2005 12:27 PM
I was watching one of the space videos that hitthebongo
pointed out in this post... view post 28994, and I
noticed that they used an "almost fade to black". I don't
think that I have seen that posted before(pardon if it has)
It's a very subtle difference, as this example shows...

fades

...but I think it's a stylish look. Here is PIP+ code to do it,
but you could do it by overlaping "fade out, fade in"

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033" SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{4EF98DF5-794F-4fd3-8E77-559F82C8D10C}">
<Transition name="PIP+ almost fade to black" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0;
0.5, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.15;
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.0"/>

<Param name="RectB" value="0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.0;
0.5, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.15;
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.00, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0"/>
<Param name="Background" value="#000000" />

</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Good idea. I think you should name them Fade Through Black

Yes, that probably better describes it. Of course, any color
would work. Here would be fade through white.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033" SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{4EF98DF5-794F-4fd3-8E77-559F82C8D10C}">
<Transition name="PIP+ fade through white" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0;
0.5, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.15;
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.0"/>

<Param name="RectB" value="0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.0;
0.5, 0.0, 0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.15;
1.0, 0.0, 0.0, 1.00, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0"/>
<Param name="Background" value="#FFFFFF" />

</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

no.. sadly :'(

If no one minds me saying, there too many Pip + effect/transitions and not enough regular. It's kind of defeatign the purpose of coming to the share effects and transitions section for me.

Now rid of those bright colors

Actually, if you look at the beginning of the Dave's post, he notes that you can probably achieve this same effect by applying a Fade Out effect to the first clip, a Fade In effect to the second clip, then placing a fade between the two. And if you want white, change the fade effects to Fade Out, White and Fade In, White.

I'm not sure if the PIP+ effect posted is static, but if it is, it should work with PIP Plus, even after the 15-day trial.

Blaine,
There is no movement, only changes to the alpha parameter,
so yes....it should work with the free version.

Now, for a moment of editorialization:
I post what I can figure out, without bias towards any method,
and in fact as Blaine pointed out, I try to point out alternatives.
And I try to keep it as simple as possible. However, PIP+ offers
a lot more possibilities, so I don't think it serves any purpose to
shut up about PIP+ because not everyone has. I also don't think
that $8 is very much to spend on PIP+, but that's a different
subject. Everyone has thier own idea on how to best to spend
those hard earned bucks. I could probably "out cheap" most people
on this board, as I won't spend money on cable/dish or a cell phone.

The sticky at the top does actually reference PIP+ , so I would argue that one of the objectives is being met.

Perhaps more clarity (and I'm thinking of myself here) is needed when posting an effect as to whether PIP+ is a requirement on not.

Unfortunately this would require registration for PIPPlus after the trial period is over. But hold a sec !!! i think the same can be done via some other free transition.... (thinking)...
