Standard PIP (not plus) Request for Transition
Posted: 24 Sep 2005 09:12 AM
Hi guys,

Well I'm currently busy at work recording a soundtrack for the finale show of Sim Big Brother 2.

However, when I get to the video editing section, I will be having a 'live' host <-> house cross. I thought the best way to do it would be to use pip, instead of constently switching views. Below is a link to a picture that I have done in MS Paint that pretty much explains what I want to do. Of course, it would be a static effect.

You are using PIP+ parms with the PIP DLL.
Why are you doing that? It won't work.

Alright, I got it working with the code below:

<Transition name="*PIP+ SBB2" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0;" />
<Param name="RectB" value=" 0.0, 0.4, 0.4, 0.6, 0.6, 0.0;" />
<Param name="Background" value="C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures\sbb2f.PNG" />
</Transition>

Even though it is for PIP+, it works after the trial expires.

Yes, that makes sense. PIP+ effects and transitions will
continue to work after the trial expires, as long as the
windows stay in one place. That is to say, no animation.

Glad to know that PIPPlus was useful for you.

For the benefit of others who come to get the code from this thread here is the working code with correct GUID:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{4EF98DF5-794F-4fd3-8E77-559F82C8D10C}">
<Transition name="*PIP+ SBB2" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0;" />
<Param name="RectB" value=" 0.0, 0.4, 0.4, 0.6, 0.6, 0.0;" />
<Param name="Background" value="
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures\sbb2f.PNG" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

First make sure you have installed PIP Plus and it is working. Afterwards copy paste the xml code above into notepad and Save As pipplus_static.xml in folder C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX. Confirm the file has .xml extension by turning off the "hide extensions of known file types" from Explorer > Tools > Folder options > View. Restart WMM.

Dont forget to replace the path & name of the png file as highlighted in
red above, with a file of your own that you want to use as background.

Hi Silla

Some features of PipPlus stop working after the trial period... mainly those features that involve movement of frames and animations. This is as documented on the PipPlus page.
