Loads of stuff on YouTube about this possibility, .xml files, AddOnTFX folders etc - but none for my combo!! If anyone can assist I would be very grateful - I get everything ready to go in the Shared folder but then come to a dead end!! Thanks in advance.

Sorry - have now established there's a difference between WLMM and WMM and am now even more confused as I have WMM (2012) but it looks like the screenshots I'm seeing for WLMM?!?!

Here's the short history of Movie Maker:

WMM 2.1 and 2.6 from Windows XP and Windows Vista --> allowed for customization via XML.

WMM 6.0 from Windows Vista (also available to load on Windows 7 or 8, see my signature) allowed for a different set of customizations, but also via XML and FX files (view post 126998)

Windows Live Movie Maker 2009, 2010, 2011 --> no customization provided by Microsoft.
Movie Maker 2012 --> no customization provided by Microsoft.

So if you want to have custom transitions, titles or effects, you must go back to a "classic" version of Movie Maker rather than the WLMM or MM2012 versions.
