Accordion look...

Using an "unexpected behavior" of PIP+,
you can get this type of effect.

accordion

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033" SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="a PIP Plus Effect - echo" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value="0.00, 0.5,0.5,0.3,0.3;
0.20, 0.3,0.3,0.31,0.31;
0.40, 0.1,0.1,0.32,0.32;
0.60, 0.0,0.0,0.33,0.33;
1.00, 0.0,0.0,1.0,1.0" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

The window sizes I used are not important, the key is to move the
window in space, and not define a background. Since this behavior
is unexpected, expect the unexpected with any variations.

P.S.
I do have a blog working, with some images and video...but I am
just struggling with the whole concept of "organization" That's such
an ugly word...clutter and disorder is just so me.

you're welcome to join Persian and I... you can focus on your creative genius stuff (another term for disorder), Persian can keep going helping others ride her magic carpet, and I can help somehow in the background with the organizing...

Hey PapaJohn...
I think you have hit at the heart of the issue. Anything that is
official or requires that I need to "keep up with it" is unappealing.
That's the reason I don't own pets, I don't need the responsiblity.
A wife and kids are enough...I feed the kids daily and walk the wife
when it's not too hot or raining.

Many times in the last 6 months I have thought...."Well, that's it, I
have run out of ideas, I have nothing more to post" At that point
I figure I will just disappear, like many of the posters on this board.
So...I like the idea of having that ability.

I know that is way too much information, but that's they way
we roll around here(to steal the venacular off the radio station
to which my son listens).

Anyway...I may still work on the blog, if it doesn't need too much
attention and doesn't wake the neighbors at night. But anything I can
change to avoid causing clutter for you guys, let me know. I understand
what you guys are trying to accomplish.

I like the way the internet stuff rolls with the waves, tides, winds, whatever.... the better stuff gets looked at and the other sfuff doesn't... I just dropped my personal blog the other day as I wasn't keeping up with it enough to even warrant a continued link on my own website.

I'll go make a link to yours... what's the URL again?

Cool. It reminds of the special FX they used to do on early pop videos where say the lead singer would multiply.

It's definitely worth keeping organised. I think one great idea, carefully planned and chisselled in stone is far more useful than several that are poorly documented and just floating around in the vast space of a forum. I've lost count of the amount of video examples I've clicked on that have resulted in a timed out dead linkSad

Thanks guys.
Interestingly, I was trying that effect on a globe image I was
playing with, and true to my prediction, expect the unexpected.
I also tried a plane...interesting. Maybe could do a vapor trail,
but do we care? Probably a lot of programs can do it better.

globe5

Might be worth trying with other images that touch the edge
of the frame. Blur helps make it look better.

Al and PapaJohn,
Still not worth posting the URL...it's in its infancy. But I am forming another
idea to perhaps make it worthwhile. I thought perhaps I could make it
living project BLOG. Say I have an idea of an effect I would like to create.
For example...I would love to recreate one or any of the HP framing
commercials. So I post the idea on the blog, along with ideas and progress
I have made, or roadblocks I have hit. Then others can post there ideas
on how they might accomplish this. So perhaps the idea would die or it may
actually succeed in some way. However...perhaps I would run out of ideas
rather quickly, or the limitations of MM2 may sap my energy quickly.
Just a thought...

Thanks Dave... I'm patient and my offer will stand... to work with you and others toward having a nice library of XML stuff.

As I have a website, if I put together and maintain info, it's a lot easier for me to do it on my own site rather than someplace else....

... and as I said, if the library grows elsewhere, its even easier to link to it.

I don't think the assorted posts in a forum is the place to archive the good stuff... cause there's too much other stuff mixed in, and it's not structured for easy access...

Your blog/site is really your baby to play with, but you could perhaps document any ideas you're particularly proud of and feel may be of benefit to others. Then just see how it evolves.
I don't know if you're using Googles Blogger but the great thing I've discovered is the flexibility it offers by using style sheets. Changing the look of a blog for all posts can be achieved in a few minutes. Infact EVERYTHING about a blog can change within minutes so it can be adapted as the mood sees fit. If you don't like the direction it's taking just change it. I'm sure other blog sites have the same flexibility.

BTW I love that globe/fishbowl/crystal ball effect. Took a bit of head scratching to guess how it's done. Planets, Snooker balls, Footballs, Golf balls... mmmm - There's a lot of round things in life - that's got me thinking !

Ok I know this is very old thread but I was looking through them all to get some more transtions and effects to add.

I tried adding the accordion look but can't find it in WMM. I did add it to the addon folder after using notepad to copy and paste the code on. However, I wasn't sure what name to give it so I called it, "acccordion.xml" and that didn't work. Is there a name of this effect that I need to use? Oh, and I did restart WMM but that didn't do it. How would I know what to name the effects or transitons to get them to work?

the name that shows up in MM2 isn't the file name... it's the Effect Name used inside the XML file... in the first post, its name is:

a PIP Plus Effect - echo
