Change default font for captions
Posted: 26 Apr 2012 12:50 AM
I usually add captions on pictures and videos in a project using the same font, point size and color on each item. I currently have to adjust these for each new caption. Is there a way to set these defaults to work for the entire project?

The easiest thing to do is to set one caption, then *copy* that caption (select its rectangle from the timeline and then Ctrl+C). Place it in the location of the next caption and *paste* (Ctrl+V). Now all you have to do is to double-click on the new caption and update the words.

Tried out the suggested technique today. It brings over the words ok but fails with the font, type size and color.

I'm not sure if you are on Windows Movie Maker (2.x or 6.0) or Windows Live Movie Maker 2011.

If you are on Windows Movie Maker, you need to scroll down to the bottom of your timeline to find the Title Overlay track. Copy the rectangle representing your title and copy it. Then paste it. You should then have all the same attributes (an exact duplicate). Double-click on the duplicate title and you'll see; then change the words.

If you are on Windows Live Movie Maker, it's a similar process but you need to highlight the rectangle below your "filmstrip" with the caption. Do the same copy/paste trick and you should have all the same attributes. Double-click on the duplicate caption and it will be the same; just change the words. Remember it isn't the text in your preview window; it is the rectangle representing your caption shown below your filmstrip.
