Custom Effects WLMM - Zoom Variations
Posted: 05 May 2011 06:48 PM
These effects are pretty much random, you may find them useful or you may find them pointless. I may update them later, but for now there is zoom in and zoom out in different percentages. And stretching and rotation of the image.
There will be 4 effects created under Aspect Ratio Variations and 5 effects created under Zoom Variations.
There are 9 effects total.

You can watch a preview video here.

Note - For 64-bit users the path you want to go to is C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\

If you like it, you can download and install it.

Automatic Installation:
1. Download the WLMM Zoom Variations Effects.exe.
2. Run the installation.
3. The effects will now appear under Zoom Variations and Aspect Ratio Variations in Windows Live Movie Maker.

Manual Installation:
1. Download the WLMM Zoom Variations Effects.zip.
2. Unzip the folder.
3. Move the 2 folders inside the unzipped folder to "C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Photo Gallery".
4. The effects will now appear under Zoom Variations and Aspect Ratio Variations in Windows Live Movie Maker.

If you wish to uninstall these you can run the uninstaller called "Uninstall MMK Zoom Variations.exe" in the Photo Gallery folder.

If you encounter any problems, please let me know.

Installed and worked fine on my system. However, you might want to correct the spelling of "vertical".

Thanks for fixing that. I've added these to the WLMM page at the FX Archive.

Hi all,

I found these nice add-ons for WLM however I have a question to You guys - I'd like to have an effect so that a drawing/photo would pan right/left/up/down while it's zoomed in. Is it somehow possible? Or even it could pan while slightly zooming out. In animation tab I found panning in different directions, but it doesn't seem to work after applying this new 'zoom add-on'.

Any ideas?

thanks!

To be more precise - I'm talking about WLMM 2011, not the 2.6 movie maker.
WLM2011 seems to be much more intuitive and.. just very simple.

I found Rehan's pack, but it seems to be the 2.6 addon.

There are published ways to customize WMM 2.x and WMM 6.0. There aren't any published ways to customize WLMM, so these are all just done via a few people experimenting.

For customization of XP (WMM 2.1 or WMM 2.6) - TheFXArchive.com
For customization of Vista/Win7/Win8 (WMM 6.0) - view post 126998

Rather than WMM 2.6, you may want to install WMM 6.0. The details are in my signature or in that post (view post 126998).

But for WLMM, you'll have to see if anyone that has played around with it have figured such a customization. It's probably unlikely.

Hi I am making a slideshow video using WLMM 12, these zoom variations are working great but I have a few pics that I want to pan only left/right fast, is there a Custom effect for this? The one in WLMM pans left/right very slow.

The speed is driven by the duration. The canned pan/zoom effects take the full duration of the photo, so if you have a 7 second duration, it will take 7 seconds to pan fully. Unless someone does work on a custom version (see my comments above), your only option is to shorten the photo duration.

Thank you for replying considerate guy, that is the first thing I tried but then that makes the photo transition go too fast for anyone to view the photo properly, so I guess Ill just have to leave it as it is if there is no other option.

Btw I was looking at the zoom variations and wondering what keyValue would I need to insert to get zoom out from 100, zoom out from 50 and zoom in from 100?

Currently the values are:

(zoom out from 150)
<PositionInterpolator2D DEF="Spin360EffectScaleInterpolator" keyValue="1 1 0.5 0.5 1 1" key="0 0 1"/>

(zoom out from 200)
<PositionInterpolator2D DEF="Spin360EffectScaleInterpolator" keyValue="1 1 0 0 1 1" key="0 0 1"/>

(zoom in from 75)
<PositionInterpolator2D DEF="Spin360EffectScaleInterpolator" keyValue="1 1 1.33333333333333333 1.33333333333333333 1 1" key="0 0 1"/>

I haven't played with any of the XML for Windows Live Movie Maker. And I know of no published API.

The only numbers I see changing are the 3rd and 4th parameters. It appears a number less than 1 is a zoom out and a number greater than 1 is a zoom in.

My guess for zoom out would be:
0 = 200%
0.25 = 175%
0.5 = 150%
0.75 = 125%
1.0 = 100%

For the zoom in:
1.33 = 4/3 --> 3/4 = 75%
1.5 = 3/2 --> 2/3 = 66%
2.0 = 2/1 --> 1/2 = 50%
3.0 = 3/1 --> 1/3 = 33%

But you'll have to play with the numbers and see what happens.
