You have to be certain you saved the code (xml) correctly....assuming you are on XP...you can go into the program folder to check on them. Browse to c:/program files/ movie maker/ shared/ AddOnTfx .....once inside that folder you should see the xml's, including the ones you saved. The comp a add b should be there with the name you gave it....and also the brady effect xml would be there also. Both the icons should look the same, and you can right click and open them with 'notepad' to see if the code is correct. For the PIP, some examples should be located in that folder also, so look for 'pipstatic' xml also. Remember when you save the code from notepad that you add the .xml extension and choose 'all files' and 'ansi', and it goes into the addOnTfx. You said the comp a add b works, so the others will also if correctly saved in the right location, and make sure you are looking in 'Effects' in MM, and not in transitions....comp a add b is a transition, while BB are effects. Good luck and have fun.

There are two methods as talked about above...PIP and the use of Avisynth scripts. Read HitTheBongo's post above on 10/14/07. If you do it with his avisynth scripts you have a lot of choices in formats, including 3 frames. Click on his link to learn about it, and go to his site too if you want to get the 'cool aviscripts set 1'. To do it this way, you need to have avisynth, virtual dub to encode/render the script (or Nic's encoder), HTB's script, and your videos to replace the examples. Its a bit to learn at first, but once learned, you will see all the possibilities, especially with the Basic PIP scripts. To make the vids disappear one by one (or appear) you could use PapaJohn's Overlays to make images (title) that would have progressively one, two, three, and four quadrants black.

Your second vid example, can be done by using the side by side transition...twice. Assuming you are on XP, the code can be found at view post 74030 With your four vids on the timeline, put the side by side transition in between 1 and 2....and also between 3 and 4. Drag 2 left over 1 as far as you can...and then drag clip 4 over 3 left as far as you can. Each will preview to show 2 of them side by side. Render that out and re-import it....split it in the middle and apply the side by side transition again...pulling the right vid over the left one. I made the short clip below using gifs and that method, if regular video, make sure your subjects are centered....have fun.

Oh, I thought you were on XP. As far as the side by side transition, I don't know if there is code for that so far, but you should check in the custom codes listing here...
view post 126998 There is likely something like it in Rehan's ShaderFX, but you may wish to ask about it in that section, since we are currently in the 'Share Your XP Transitions and Effects' section.

As far as HTB's avisynth script working in Vista, I think some others have done it.
Below is a link to a long running thread that started at the first of the year discussing the subject, and it mentions some have done it with Vista. Sounds like Nic's Encoder might be a better choice than Virtual Dub however for encoding the script (vids)...but it is easy enough to try out various ways to see if it works. view post 156020

Otherwise, I'm sure there is also a way with Rehan's ShaderFX as with using PIP+ in XP. ShaderFX does have advanced PIP, so it may be easier. Don't know if anyone has tried or accomplished it yet. Good luck if you try the 'cool avisynths set 1', it has some nice arrangements for vids. Have fun.

Welcome to the forum. Nope don't know for sure what you mean...LOL If you mean you have the PIP method, you will have to do some creative editing since you are building the nine pane wall of vids several at a time....as you shift them each down and across you would have to have multiple saving and rendering which might not be practical. If you are talking about the avisynth method, and you have figured it out....go back to HitTheBongo's site and get the Brady Bunch Revisited project he has...the demo's are all various ways of presenting the nine panes. This is a bit complex to learn for many, but if you are game, do a search in the forum for 'avisynth' and read a number of the threads that discuss it view post 156020 to start. And in particular read HTB's beginners guide to avisynth at his site. This vid below used demo #2 of the BB revisited script....have fun!

If you have PIP, you can use the code shown below below (Persian Poet Gal's version).. to put 4 vids together. Or, you can use the Avisynth method....then you need to go to HitTheBongo's site and get his Cool Set 1 which has a couple of scripts for that.

Assuming you want to use the xml code and have PIP installed...here is an explanation of how you use the effects below after you have the code saved (name it BradyBunch2.xml) into the AddOnTFX folder.....

Put your four vids on the timeline....there are 3 effects which you will use...
apply the 'Brady Bunch Window2'' effect to all four of the vids. Preview them to see that they are all in the upper left corner. The first vid is in its correct position...now to the second vid, apply the 'Brady Bunch Shift2'' effect and it will shift it into the upper right corner. To the third vid apply the ''Brady Bunch Drop2'' effect and it will go to the lower left corner. And finally to the fourth vid, apply the ''Brady Bunch Drop2'' effect, AND also the ''Brady Bunch Shift2'' effect and it should be in the lower right corner. Now, apply the comp a add b transition between the first and second video....drag the second vid over the first as far to the left as possible. Do the same between the third and fourth video...applying the comp a add b transition and pulling the last vid over the third. Your first pass is now complete...vid 1 and 2 are together, as well as 3 and 4. Now save out that video, and re-import it. Split it where the change is between the two clips and again use comp a add b between them and your project will be complete. You can be creative in editing to add/move or make fixed images as in your video....good luck with it, and have fun.

Welcome to the forum. This is for XP and not Vista. If that is what you have, you then need to have Rehan's PIP+ installed. If you don't have it installed go to www.rehanfx.org and get the PIP+. You'll see it there...its a free trial to download. For the full package it costs only $8, but after the trial expires all of the static items will still work, and that is what you need so that part is free. Then the BB effects will work. If you did the four frame one above your post, you can just follow the description of how it is done. Also, make sure you saved the xml correctly...go here view post 74030 and watch some of the tutorial vids near the top of that page to learn if you are copying/saving correctly. Good luck and have fun.

They should continue to work, there is no animation.
Perhaps Rehan will see this, and comment.

Yes these effects should work fine even after the trial period of PipPlus is finished.

Hi,
It's really 3 effects.
One effect to resize the video to 1/9 size.
Two effects to move the resized video into 1 of 9 squares.
Those effects are in the first post of this thread.

These 3 effects can be added as BRADY.XML

<Transition name="Comp A add B" iconid="0" comment="DXCOMPFUNC_A_ADD_B">
<Param name="Function" value="9" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

The effects make and position the 9 squares

Rehan's PIP Plus is not for WMM6, only WWM2.x.

I use Firefox+Greasemonkey scripts for easier editing of forum posts, FAQs and displaying embedded images Wink

Look at the post above. Under WMM 2.x, the xml will go in your AddOnTFX folder and you should have it in your effects.

hi there dlk,

just wondering, why is it the clip that i selected is cut in half, i am not sure if the file is too big or if it has something to do with taking the video on video cam. On each clip when i add the Brady Bunch Window effect all that comes up is the view of the top of the heads, so it is not the full thing, any advise? please thank you.
