What to do with assorted video clips from a local baseball game of Justin, one of our grands??? The Brady Bunch Avisynth script comes in handy again.... I tried the script before by itself, but this time it's used for the opening to the full video.

... and if you want to see a higher quality copy on my website... here's that link too...

Hey PapaJohn,
I was able to create the Bradybunch effect (the simplified method) but when I tried the Brady Bunch Simulation like you used in your grandsons video, I was not able to put my own videos in. Can you help?

If it worked with the downloaded package... try swapping out just one of the files with yours... get one working before you add the rest.

you don't provide enough info to suggest anything... sorry!!

PapaJohn,
I swapped the package files with my own video files and changed the file type, I am able to view the brady bunch effect in full on my Media Player Classic (yippi). Now for my next problem.....How do I save it so that I can use it in Movie Maker?
Thanks for your help

What I do is open the script in VirtualDud and save it as a DV-AVI file, using the Panasonic DV codec for compression. That makes a good source file for Movie Maker.

I don't use the Encoder as a conversion tool... but it's a wizard-based app that walks you through the steps. One of you options when opening it is to convert a file... if it accepts the avs script (it might not), follow the wizard's guidance. I don't have a step by step for it.

You need to download 'AviSynth' too or else the .avs script won't run.

if you got a DV-AVI file using VirtualDub.... import it into Movie Maker as a single clip... save it to a low quality file like one of the Pocket PC choices... if it plays smoothly and it's all there, then there's nothing wrong with the file you made.

playing a DV-AVI file smoothly is one of the harder tasks for a computer.

Baseballus...I'm guessing that you don't have the correct compression setting set in virtual dub to create a compressed DV-AVI file. My guess is that you may be saving it as an uncompressed file...PapaJohn saves his files using the Panasonic DV codec but this may not appear on everybodys system including yours - It may need to be installed seperately

An alternative compression method you could try is compressing the file as a wmv encoded avi file. I have a little guide that gives a few pointers for doing that shown below:

Guide

The guide is for converting a DVD to wmv encoded avi using virtual dub - in your case the brady bunch aviscript would replace the ripped dvd input

Another tool you could use which is a particular favourite of mine is nics media encoder. It's a delightfully simple tool but produces excellent wmv encoded movies. Some suggested settings are in an introduction guide I did

I just started playing with the Brady Bunch effect, and I screwed it up somewhere... don't know how, and I haven't been able to duplicate it since (I got it working now) but heres my goof up:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZgO3afMYJI

The interesting thing about the goof up is that
1) there is a vid in the bottom right (for where it is)
2) there is a vid in the bottom Left (For where it is)
3) there is a vid in Top Left (that is actually were it is supposed to be)
4) I guess top right is the big one.

I thought it was an interesting goof... And I'll try to figure out how I did it, if anyone shows any interest.

Wow, this is awesome, thanks! Is there any way to do fewer than nine videos? like 2x2 instead of 3x3?

The three panel effect is possible using either some customised PIP+ code or using an Aviscript. I'm not sure which method you are preferring to use.

I'll leave it to the PIP+ experts to detail the code for what your after as I'm really rusty on it now.

For the aviscript method however I can help as I already have several scriopts published thad do exactly the kind of thing you're requesting. It can be found by clicking on Hitthebongo's Avisynth Page and selecting cool aviscripts set 1 (the embedded video will display what the scripts can do)

Ok so this is my first time "creating" my own effects. I downloaded and installed the PIP+ but it doesn't show up in MM2. I also created the brady.xml and COMP.xml files from the codes in this post. The brady effects do not show up but the COMP transition does. Is there a reason why only the comp one would work? It is really starting to frustrate me. I tried removing and recreating the files that weren't showing up but it didn't work the second time either. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
