Hi I'm using movie maker 6.0 for windows 7, as I am not a fan of the MLMM. When I go to publish, HD option isnt there. Can I get the hd options to download?

RunrigNutter:

The WMM6 I now use in W7 includes 4 HD profiles. You might want to download the installer package from the link below, and copy/paste its Profiles folder into your Movie Maker 6 Shared folder. The Profile folder contains 4 .prx HD video profiles that should show up when you want to publish your movie to the computer.

Good luck!

OK, I'm trying to get MM 6 to use on win 7. When I go to the youtube site I see the video, but can't find "more info" to click on. All the sites that I have found so far are blocked by my virus checker. How come we can't just download from MS? Is is no longer available?

Sorry about that. Youtube changed its style after I made the video, and replaced the "More Info" button with a chevron-style button.

Thank you so much for that workaround. I was having the same problem where the files were in the correct place, but they were not showing up until I used the file tab method of publishing. I was really starting to get frustrated. I had tried installing the files in both the 64 bit and 32 bit file paths in desperation. Neither one shows the HD options there unless you go through the file tab to publish.

I've had a number of people ask me where the HD profiles are when you install WMM6 into Windows 7. So, I made an instructional webpage that hopefully addresses some of the questions:

Grapemanca,

My computer is a Hewlett Packard HPe9270f, 64 Bit Operating System with 8 Gig of Ram and uses Windows 7 Home operating software.

I downloaded your WMM file originally on my computer and everything worked great. I saw the HD profiles and was able to publish a HD show. However, I went to download ShaderTFX transitions and effects and they did not work. I saw the icons for the different transitions - but they would only do a fade effect, even though the icon says it is a different effect. So Rehan had me reinstall WMM from http://movies.blainesville.com/2010/05/installing-windows-movie-maker-60-on.html and then download ShaderTFX. Now all his transitions work.

I noticed that the program is now operating in Program Files not Program Files (x86) directory. I then copied the Profiles Folder to C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared directory, but I can't see the HD options when I am in WMM. I would place a HD movie clip on the timeline and then click on "Publish to this computer", select a file name, then click on "more settings" but the HD options are not there.

Any suggestions on how to make the HD options work?

Thanks for your help.

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I use Windows 7 64 bit Pro (and have since it first came out), and have created a couple dozen movies using the WMM6 from my installer.

However, as I've mentioned elsewhere, the installer I have is for a 32 bit version of WMM6 (which nevertheless works in W7 32x or 64x). Perhaps my HD Profiles folder is strictly registered for a 32 bit program, and therefore doesn't work with your 64 bit installation of WMM6 from Rehan.

I think you'll need to find a strictly 64 bit installation of WMM6 for W7, and - assuming it comes with an HD Profiles folder - use its folder rather than mine. I'm sorry I don't have any more help than that.

By the way, I don't use ShaderTFX [sorry Rehan! :-)], but I do use Pixelan's wonderful package for WMM6. However, I had to (re)download their 32 bit version to work with my 32 bit installation of WMM6 after I moved over from Vista.

Good luck!

I have downloaded the profiles but when I put it in shared folder I still can't find the settings when I use WMM6, what is wrong?
