decreasing background music and increase video sound at same time

i am making my first video and i have some video intermixed with picutres on my timeline. how do i lower the background music enough ONLY when the videos are playing so i can hear the videos and then increase the background music back up while pictures are showing? help please!!!!

Switch to the timeline view and then split your audio at the beginning and end points of the video. Then select the section of audio you created with the two splits and go to "Clip > Audio > Volume" and adjust the volume of the audio to the desired level.
