Sounds great Rehan. I have recently bought a 64-bit computer and would be happy to test it. Nice work by the way.Smiley

Way to go Rehan. You will make a lot of folks happier.

Do you know the effects of the the "new" ShaderTFX on existing Effects and Transitions installers? Such as mineWink

I don't have access to a 64bit machine to test on.

PatrickL,

It seems everything remains the same, for me, but for example. When I run one of your installers, I have to go to C:\program files(x86)\movie maker\shared\ and copy all the contents, then paste them to C:\program files\movie maker\shared. Then everything works fine. I tested 2-D Deformations, and Cube Rotate.

MMK, thanks for the testing and info.

The installer has a dialog where you can choose a folder to install to.

If you choose C:\program files\movie maker\shared, does it install properly?

So far very few people have responded with positive or negative feedback regarding this beta. I am not sure what to assume? Are people not interested or is it all hunky dory?

Those of you who can test it on a 64 bit Vista machine please do so and send their feedback here or to me directly.

ShaderTFX for Vista 64bit friendly installer (beta):
http://www.rehanfx.org/download/ShaderTFX64beta.exe

Notes:
• Please uninstall any previous version you may have installed.
• I expect the same installer to work on 64 bit Windows Vista machine as well as 32 bit. Kindly try it on 32 bit as well if you can.
• Uninstaller should work as well. Removing only the installed files.
• It should offer you 14 days free trial as usual.

Rehan it just seems people just want the program and could care less for feedback.Sad

I will do more testing for you though.Smiley
When I get home:
-Test installing, registering, and uninstalling on 64-bit and 32-bit
-Make sure the full 14-days are taken into effect
-Look for any bugs, such as problems with gradients, ect. (although I dont think there will be any.)

Would you like me to test it on computers without SP1?

Hi Rehan,

I tested it on my 32 bit Vista by uninstalling the 32 bit ShaderTFX and installing the 64 bit (installer) ShaderTFX.

All went well and in trying out all of the TFXs that I have generated and many of MMKs, all performed as expected (2 small anomalies that I will e-mail you about).

The 64 bit uninstall worked, and then a reinstall of the 32bit ShaderTFX was fine, even remembering that I was a registered user.

Congrats and thanks for your efforts, PatrickL

I tried to install the new 64 bit version and this was my error message

------------------------
c:\program files\movie maker\shared\ShaderTFX.dll

unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3

Click to retry again, ignore to proceed anyway (not recommended) or Abort to cancel installation.

I'm out of ideas on how to make this work. Can anyone figure out what's wrong?

The cause of this seems to be absence of DirectX on the machine. Please install latest DirectX from microsoft and try installing ShaderTFX again.

Note: To install DirectX download the file from above link, extract it in a temporary location, then go to that location and run dxsetup.exe to complete the DirectX.

Rehan,

It works! WOOT! I'm going to play around with it for the trial period, but plan on receiving some moolah from me in the not too distant future.

DirectX cured the problem, I thought that I had already installed all of that, but that was on another computer...my mistake.

So far so good...

I just installed this shader tfx. All the effects and transistions show up but none of them work. All they do is dissolve and some of the effects just have a black screen. No chromakey features. They just dissolve between transistions. What did I do wrong? It is in the right folder

Forgot to add. Yes I downloaded the latest Active X and yes my computer is a Vista 64 bit computer. All your icons show up so it is in the right folder but when you drag the transistion down to "do it's thing" it just dissolves and nothing else and the effects you created including blue screen do nothing...

Finally!!!! Got the beta download to take. It all works!! You are a genius!! So how do I pay for this? Do I have to wait for the stuff to expire and it ceases to work or get the code and uninstall and reinstall or what? Advise...Now if you would just develop a blur program that you can manually manipulate to cover just what you want to cover like a date and time stamp or a person's face, I think this little WMM would be the perfect inexpensive video software...

Mine worked long enough for me to make 1 or two videos and then died. I had installed DirectX and that helped, but now none of the transitions work.

I'm still in the trial period with 8 days left, and I will happily pay for the program if I think its going to work

How do I uninstall ShaderTFX and start over?

I really don't think it would all of a sudden stopped working unless you tried editing a file from ShaderTFX. You can uninstall it by running the installer, check the circle next to uninstall then reinstall it. Or you can uninstall it via Control Panel > Uninstall A Program. Uninstalling it will not reset the trial period, by the way.Smiley

Also a simple reboot may fix the problem if the problem is caused by video driver malfunction... Unfortunately some video cards / GPUs cannot handle the abuse some of the heavy effects throw at them. Please post me more details of the problem with description of your pc hardware.

MMK,

I found the uninstaller file in the subdirectory, and reinstalled it. Then it worked long enough to process another video and stopped working again. When I try to use PiP transitions, it makes both videos flicker badly in normal size. I'll post up a link to a video that didn't work, and maybe its something that you guys have seen before and can diagnose.

I didn't edit any of the ShaderTFX files, although maybe once I get a little better with this, I'll try it. I solemnly swear to back up the originals first :)

And, yes I know that it won't reset the trial period...I don't expect something for nothing, especially not a program that is this powerful. Although I feel as though I'm running out of time to get this program working properly, I think I'm down to 6 days left.

I may be wrong, but some Intel graphics cards don't work that well with ShaderTFX.
I also don't see how it works one day then just stops working the next day, doesn't make any sense. You could try re-installing your display adapter, and make sure its up to date. If the transitions/effects are what don't work well, it could be your graphics card.

I just ran the program again and when the WMM preview window runs shows, it shows shows the two videos flickering over one another. So I published the video in an effort to show everyone on the forum what the problem looked like, and when i published it, the video looked fine!?! Maybe it is something with the Intel card, I dunno.

This almost as bad as when you take your car to the mechanic to have him fix "that rattling sound" and when the mechanic drives the car, the noise isn't there any more! I give up! :)

I am rather pleased that the finished video looks so nice...I can't complain about that.

Here's a sample:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rii9ml98vVA&feature=channel_page

I'll keep testing it to see if I have any other issues and post them if I do.

This is pretty cool. I like the green screen effect but when using, the audio tried to fade the sound away slowly, any way to stop that when I'm using a green screen effect?

If I may ask, Floridadude, what did you do to get it working? Because I had the same problem as you. It installed fine, but some of the transitions don't work. They just work as fade-ins. Any ideas what I should do?

IT WORKEDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have the solution, icequeen! with the installation, it doesnt actually install the program, it just copies files. you need to go into wherever you put the files and find the DXSETUP file. run it and then reinstall shadertfx. it should work (it did for me). hope this helps to anyone in the future. :)

Hi Rehan,

A google search led me to your site, I was trying to get picture in picture through windows movie maker. Unfortunatly all I could find was the 32bit version, which didn't work at all with my 64bit Ultimate. I nearly gave up until I found this thread.

The installer ran with no problems, all the features I've tried so far worked perfectly. Other than being fully updated I have no special drivers or supplmental software running. I would have tested the same installer on a 32bit version if I had one, but both of my computers are 64bit.

Is there anything else in paticular that you would find useful?

Looking forward to the full release, i only have 11 days left on the trial and anticipate using it for a bit longer than that :)

Ok Rehan. Gonna keep my cool here but here goes. Bought and paid for your Shader FX Vista 64 bit. You emailed me the username and reg code. I have tried 4 times to install the code and it keeps telling me invalid code. All of Patrick's effects that I have will not work obviously until this is unlocked. I have no time left on the trial period. I am leaving no spaces on the cut and paste, in fact even tried to manually type the codes in to no avail. So now what?
