Another subtitle variation...
Posted: 25 Jun 2005 08:02 PM
Ok...we have had "subtle subtitles" (little humor for marquisite),
so here we have a glorified subtitle...or getting more so.

breakfast

Cut and paste this into notepad, and save as an XML file
in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Titles>
<TitleDLL guid="{353359C1-39E1-491b-9951-464FD8AB071C}">
<Title name="Glorified Subtitle" iconid="13">
<Param name="InternalName" value="TitleStandard"/>
<Param name="Description" value="Subtitle with lines overlay"/>
<Param name="LogoBitmapFilename" value="subtlines.png"/>
<Param name="LogoRect" value="0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0"/>
<Paragraph>
<Param name="EntranceEffect" value="none"/>
<Param name="ExitEffect" value="none"/>
<Param name="BannerType" value="HorizontalFlood" />
<Param name="BannerColor1" value="#A0000000" />
<Param name="BannerColor2" value="#A0000000" />
<Param name="BoundingRect" value="0.0 0.6 1.0 0.50"/>
<Param name="FontSize" value="18"/>
<Param name="MaxCharacterCount" value="256"/>
<Param name="VerticalAlignment" value="Center"/>
</Paragraph>
</Title>
</TitleDLL>
</Titles>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

You need this PNG file copied into C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared

lines

The image just looks like a grey backgound in putfile, (right click, save
as subtlines.png)
The overlay only works for 1 line of text...2 lines would need a new overlay.

Good question, but the answer is "no".

He actually meant Shared. Shared is the default location for images. You'll notice in dlk's XML he never specified a location, just the file name.
<Param name="LogoBitmapFilename" value="subtlines.png"/>
So the image is expected to be found in Shared. You'll notice that the news.png and paint.png are there too.

However, because this sometimes causes confusion for people who expect the .xml and images to be in the same directory, often the XML will be coded with a path like AddOnTFX/filename.png, instead:
<Param name="LogoBitmapFilename" value="AddOnTFX/subtlines.png"/>

In that case, the image would be put in the AddOnTFX folder.

I can see a few people didn't quite understand the instructions.
Unlike some links to images, you can't right click directly on dlk's link.
You first left click to go to the putfile page,
then right click on the image to save it as C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\subtlines.png

I can't see the Putfile file either, does anyone have it (or know how to do a similar one in Adobe Illustrator)?

Would be a massive help to me, it's just what I want...

Thanks

Matt

It's a mostly transparent PNG, with two lines positioned exactly above and below where the shaded bar will appear. You can leave out the image line from the XML above and you'll still get a title with a shaded background.

I'll try and find a copy on my other PC later today and see if I can't get it re-uploaded for you... one note, because the lines are fixed relative to the full screen, if you expand the size of the title bar (by changing the font size or style), the lines may not line up the same way.

Here's a reposting of the image:
linesgv4.png

Note: it's transparent on a nearly white background, so it is hard to see. But when you right-click and save the picture, be sure to name it the same as in the XML (subtlines.png). Also, the file goes in the *C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared* directory, unless you change it in the XML).

Thanks for this awesome subtitle.

Is there a way to get the graphic to "FadeWipe." I'd like to have the whole thing (graph, banner, and text) fade in from the left and fade out to the right.

Hi! Could I pls ask the proper path for the "gllorified subtitle" effect? Cause what I am getting is a black title and slide whenever I apply it to my project.

Many thanks!

I am doing some housecleaning and noticed this was left unanswered.
Since it's one of mine(and one I'll admit to,) I thought I would see
if Projectress got it sorted out.

Ok... so you need to download the image that Nicholas reposted.
It almost looks like there is no image when you click his
link, but it is there. Save that into moviemaker/shared directory,
and the XML that is at the top of this thread should find it.

Here is a direct link to the image file I posted above:

http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/6707/linesgv4.png

It was hard to find the image on the page I linked to before. (I also edited my previous post) And like dave said it looks like a blank image but it really isn't.

Also - If you are having trouble adding XML/images try using my XML Adder program. It can add that image above automatically too, just click "Attach A File" after pasting in an XML and choose from the Web, and paste in the URL above. It will download that image and add it to the correct place with the XML.
