Missing Images for XP Transitions
Posted: 01 Feb 2009 03:22 PM
Nicholas and I are in the process of compiling the XP transitions for inclusion in the FX Archive. Unfortunately, the links to the images required for a number of the different transitions are now "broken". Listed below are the transitions for which we are currently missing the necessary images. If anyone has copies of any of these images, we would appreciate it if you would upload them to a file sharing site such as MediaFire so that we can download them and include these transitions in the FX Archive. Pleaase post the download link(s) for the file(s) back here or use the "Contact Me" page on my website to send us the link(s).

****** Updated list as of Feb 21 ******

AllyseV - MyTransitions: 1 - 6

dlk - PIP+ window with perspective - moving

kiwi - Gradient, Swirl, Gradient, Whirlpool and Stripes

mallett65 - Breaking glass

Rehan - Drip, gradient eye, Half Transparent 1, Half Transparent 2, JPG: beam, JPG: Drop, Wipe: Random and Wipe: Vortex

someperson111 - PE wavey squares

I've uploaded the my original Circle in transition

However a couple of months later I made another simpler one which didn't need a separate gradient file

Hello Noephyte

There were never any actual images to go with those splits. They were just hypothetical examples.

glow - thanks for providing those files; we'll add them to the archive.

PG - thanks for that feedback; we'll delete those from the list.

I've also updated the list in my original post to reflect your feedback and the images I've received from other forum members.

To Glow, and Neo.

Regarding your circleIris trans,
There is a circle in the SMPTE wipes, so why to add another one with a different GUID ?
I examined your 049F2CE6-D996-4721-897A-DB15CE9EB73D GUID, and it has 6 shapes
but all are already embedded in the SMPTE wipes .

Well, I was a bit hasty.
With the SMPTE wipes you can't set direction, they all one way - out.
So here my intake on GLOW work. I tried to include GLOW's DLL for the icons but I always had troble to get the ID correctly. so please correct the XML.

1. Personally I prefer the free Pixelan TranJelly Wipes to the SMPTE wipes.
The Wizard allows you to more options for in or out and doesn't have to be linear.
They have a nice bevelled edge.
That said, I still use my original Circle In transition especially at the end of a movie.
Sometimes I also change the centre of the circle to finish on someone's face.

2. I think you missed the point why I used a dollar sign in my Transition names.
While I'm experimenting with a transition or effect, I sometimes start the name with a punctuation symbol so that when viewing the list in WMM, I could jump to it by pressing the character e.g. "$" rather than scrolling through hundreds of names. Another alternative is to start the name with a space so it's near the top of the list. Putting the $ sign in the middle of the name as you've done doesn't offer this advantage.

3. I only had one icon in my DLL. I suggest that you use the original WMM icons and not worry that the arrows are the wrong direction. I'd also name them so that they appear next to the wipes which go out e.g. "Circle In" would appear next to "Circle".

fayfen - we're trying, as best we can, to include all the transitions created by forum members in the FX Archive, as we feel that's the most appropriate approach for an archive. We also did not want to try to make any judgements about whether the GUID used for a given transition is the best one for implementing a given type of transition (however, we do try to include a note/comment on this, if the creator points this out, as glow did for his original transition).

fine glow, I took your remarks and corrected the XML.
I rename it as Shapes-in.xml and here it is, fully working icons and adjacent to the SMPTE names. Neo you can add this to the library.

<!-- Shaps-in transition using IE Iris transition -->
<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{049F2CE6-D996-4721-897A-DB15CE9EB73D}">
<Transition name="CIRCLE - in" iconid="80" comment="By glow">
<Param name="irisstyle" value="CIRCLE" />
<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="DIAMOND - in" iconid="11" comment="By FayFen">
<Param name="irisstyle" value="DIAMOND" />
<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Diagonal, Cross - in" iconid="8" comment="By FayFen">
<Param name="irisstyle" value="CROSS" />
<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Iris - in" iconid="29" comment="By FayFen">
<Param name="irisstyle" value="PLUS" />
<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="Rectangle (SQUARE - in)" iconid="39" comment="By FayFen">
<Param name="irisstyle" value="SQUARE" />
<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="STAR - in" iconid="46" comment="By FayFen">

<Param name="motion" value="in" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>

fayfen - I've made a copy and plan to include all of them but the "CIRCLE - in" transition (it appears to be a duplicate of glow's previous one) in the FX Archive.

Gentlesideoffury - thanks for the image and your quick response.

omawithamission - thanks also for your quick response; I have the xml file but need a copy of the image that you used with that transition. Try uploading it to <a href-"http://www.mediafire.com/">MediaFire</a> and posting the download link back here.
