Broadcast News style PIP
Posted: 12 Nov 2008 03:14 PM
I have XP WMM and I am making video bloggs on YouTube as a hobby. I used the existing effects to make some short Funny Fake News clips and apparently my fans want more. Are there any plug-ins for making News style PIP so I can show pics or video in a bordered box next to the news anchor?

Welcome to the forum. For XP, you can get the PIP+ plug-in made by Rehan in the upper right corner of the page linked below. Also get the PIP+ Static PIP Transitions which is just below that. Its a trial and costs only $8 if you get it. Otherwise, the static items remain after the trial is over. In Movie Maker, you use transitions to put your picture in picture.

RehanPIP+

You may wish to check out some of the downloadable clips which are like news broadcasts and countdowns and so on from the clip archive here. I like News Loop 6.

ClipArchive

MimoMovieMaker once made a code which shows a similar template to what you are attempting. This code needs the PIP+ plugin. There are four transitions and you'll have to play around with them to get the look you want. If you don't know how to copy and install xml code, go here to learn how.... view post 2203 Install this code to get the four transitions, and you'll also need to right click on the image linked and rename the imageshack name to satcompic.jpg....and save it into your addOnTFX folder located at C:/program files/ movie maker/ shared/ addOnTFX The transitions use the image for a side by side look of your vids. First the pic, and then the code. Have fun.

Thank you so much. I got the pip effects you suggested, not bad for only $8 and I really LOVE the news loops. I can't thank you enough for your feedback. I do apologize for taking so long to see your response but I for got to check the "Email Me" box. Anyways, your awesome and I hope I get to share my edited video using these effects with you. I try to remember those who help me get where I'm going. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great positive feedback. I saw your other post in 'share your movies' and watched that vid. Now that was funny! The sound effects really add a lot. Even if you don't get a link to work, its easy enough for others just to copy it and paste it in the address line. But below is the format to set up a link in a post....your site link name goes between the quotes ", and you just add whatever name you wish where it says Microsoft Website, and you'll have a clickable link...don't include the @ sign though since I didn't want this to actually link...LOL.

<a href="http://www.microsoft.com">Microsoft Website</a@>

I'm really glad you liked my videoblog. That is what really makes all the time and effort worth it all. Thank you for your feedback. I have others I'de love to share for feedback so hopefully in the neer future I'll be able to post them. How do I remove one of my duplicated posts? I still find that a bit embarrising. Although I am a newbie, some might find that annoying rather than amusing. and thank you for the tutorial on how to make a clickable link, I read post 7 about making links but I must have missed the "between the" part. So do I leave the ""in or take them out when I add the URL?

You leave the " ... " in to make the link. Some get ornery if there are duplicate posts, but don't worry about it because you can't remove it. There are moderators which oversee everything (mod people) in here, so they may read thru and eliminate it. Otherwise, it just keeps getting older and older and not seen as additional posts are made. If you ever have a post and want more discussion on it, just make a short post and it will bump up to the top of the list again where others can see it.
When you come on, you can always click on the 'MyForum' name on the upper right of this page and all of your posts will be listed...and you can see if anyone had a new response by noting the date and time. I see Bad Wolf made a corrected link for you, so others can easily see it. Have fun.
