A different way to do a logo ...and make it move
Posted: 15 Jun 2005 07:07 PM
If you have a logo or animated gif on a black background
or a transparent gif(because MM2 gives it a black background),
you can use the compositor transition to place it on your
image, and then use PIP+ effects to change it's size and
move it anywhere on the image. This works well with
colorful GIFs and logos...not so well with gifs that contain black.
The one issue is that the GIF takes on some transparency qualities,
but that's a small price for movement.

Here is a simple resize and move example.

How to use the compositor transition is explained very well here:

PIP+ effects can be found all over this board, but here are the ones I used

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033" SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect panright" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.00,1.0,1.0;
1.0, 1.0,0.0,1.0,1.0" />
<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect small window left" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.040, 0.36, 0.25, 0.28, 0.0;
1.0, 0.040, 0.36, 0.25, 0.28, 1.0;" />
<Param name="Background" value="0x000000" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

This may also work for fancy fonts on a black background

And I think C:\ is looking to do something similar but outside of WMM2. It appears he plans to use VirtualDub with the Logo Filter 1.5 add-on.

I am not sure about movement...but I was thinking that his plan
had to do with reading a folder or list of images. The process would then
read in the 1,2,3,4,5,6...sequentially. We will see what he comes up with.

Well the Logo 1.5 Filter for VirtualDub appears to allow for overlaying any sequence of frames, so it could be used for an animated logo, a counter, or even an animated logo containing a counter, if you so desired. The drawback is that it is done outside of Movie Maker compared to your effect which is done inside.

Whoa! I just watched your clip and realized this is a MOVING logo, not just an animated logo!

That is so cool! Cool
