Is there a free site to upload movies? Posted: 01 Sep 2003 11:01 AM |
I was wondering if you knew a free host to upload my movies to so I could share them online. My webhost only allows for 5mb of space.
If you have any suggestions please respond.
Thanks |

www.videodesk.net
I am trying to make my movies work, but I don't know how to get them to save as a.wmv
It will only allow me to go through the save wizard thingy which doesn't let me choose=( |

here are some that i know and they are the best!!
www.koolpages.com - 50 mb space , but only allows zip files to be uploaded
www.sitesled.com - 100 mb space but no more than 1 gb of data can be downloaded in a day, simple meaning is that, that it has a bandwidth control

| I use http://dhost.info/ it has no file size upload limit, a lot of other hosts only allow 900kb, a tiny amount so you can't put movies on them. It has 100mb of space 300gb of traffic (bandwith), NO ADS (Yeah!), and the domain will be http://dhost.info/usernamehere. You need to request an account, but mine got accepted within a day. You need to have a FTP uploader, try CuteFTP. I love it. |

Hello-
I think it's important to talk about the difference between "hosting" WMV files and streaming WMV files.
When you "upload a movie maker file" to a hosting service, you are generally just moving a file to some elses server on the internet. This means, when you send a link for someone to view your movie, they have to wait for most of the file to download before it will begin to play. This is not a great user experience, especially on slower connections.
Streaming uses a special server, special encoding of your Movie Maker file and a special internet protocol to "stream" data to the viewers computer. This means the movie starts right away and can continue without interuption for a long period of time. All in all, a much better user experience. Setting up streaming servers, the related equipment and the necessary bandwidth is generally not something one guy can do out of a basement.
I would recommend that folks visit www.itsactive.com and AT LEAST view the demos and see the difference that true streaming can make in your online videos. All these files are specially encoded "multiple bandwidth files" - that means your user gets the best possible experience for his or her connection speed.
Thanks,
Jock

| I use Putfile, but it's like you can't upload files during the night. It's always in the afternoon servers are free. |

yes, there is a wonderful site for uploading u'r movies and share with u'r friends & family. I am uploading and sharing my movies since long time in http://www.ezphotosharing.com
We can upload unlimited movies and photoes(unlimited storage). Each movie shouldn't exceed 10MB. When i save my movie in windows movie maker using recommended format, it saves large movie within 10MB. It is very good site, easily operatable and we can organize our albums wonderfully. I like this website, very much. I recommend this website for anyone who ask me. |
