New Timeline

Oh Microsoft Guys,

Here is a request that you should include a new timeline in the coming issue of Movie Maker. Atleast there should be another track for video Overlay and also one for audio.

I don't know if that can be difficult, what I now is that I was going to suggest the very same thing...

for example: you have 2 tracks of video... 1 for the main video, and the 2nd for and image that you want to include as an overlay or something...

2 tracks of audio... besides the tracks of the video audio, 2 other audio tracks would be useful, one for background music, and other for sound effects...

And about the overlay, I don't see why to have another one... but well...

I know there are ways to make things, but if the WMM had those extra features it would be SO easy...

First I was dissapointed of Moviemaker, but now i've discovered thousands of things I'm impressed! Sorry if I have spelling/grammar mistakes... I'm spanish speaking

yeah... we can only hope it happens... and I think Sony vegas and/or Adobe Video Studio has 2 timelines... but they're TOO expensive... so if WMM get those, it will be without doubt the best video editor...

Ulead video studio (I like ver 10...11 has a few bugs)is not expensive...around $100...and it has extra tracks and some cool chroma and built in pip features.

Cuss, act rude... be ungrateful....go ahead, make my day!

Pinnacle Studio v12 is another option and they have 3 different versions that you can buy, I think their lowest one is ~$60. I'm currently using their Ultimate version because I didn't want to deal with upgrades within the software. I also have the Ulead VideoStudio 10 installed and agree with Katho that I'd rather use that version until the bugs are worked out of version 11.

Yeah, another timeline for audio would be great! I don't like having to save and import my movie again to put another layer of audio on it.

XP, that's me.

I agree...sometimes you want the music AND sound effects/Narration at the same time and its quite troublesome to use Audacity or save and import it again!

yeah... that's other of my points... beside the fact that it can be sort of boring to render the whole thing again... you loose time... and the video loose quallity...

Two timelines! You dream.
What you are going to get is zero timeline. Yes the timeline is being deprecated altogether. Its crazy. See here.

LOL,
this what happen if you live the programing solely to the engineers who have no idea
what editing is all about.

No timeline? Are they serious? What are they replacing it with? How do they expect us to trim and fine-tune our clips?

I love WMM because of the ease to use. I have also looked at other programs with multiple timelines. I tried Sony Vegas but the learning curve is to much for me. What is another program that you recommend for the user friendly editor?

I've found that Cyberlink's PowerDirector is a nice step up from WMM. It's definitely more powerful and fully featured than WMM6, but it also has an intuitive timeline that's far easier to use than WLMM's disastrous storyboard.

Don't bend! Put WMM6 on Windows 7:

Hi. There are all kinds of other video editors. PowerDirector is one of the top ranked editors. I have a love/hate working relationship with Vegas (lol), but you are right about its complexity. Give a read to what I wrote here view post 238414 . If you are looking for something new, you could give it a try. Have fun!

They need to give us back the timeline and give us a choice to choose between this storyboard mode or timeline. It's ridiculous that after all these versions they still have not figured that out. At this point fewer and fewer people will use their software. I don't get these tests that they are talking about. This new way to make videos is simple and even more difficult than for me to use the timeline.

It would totally be awesome to get more timelines / tracks for video, audio and especially for TEXTS! Right now it is so annoying that you are able to only add one "textbox" on a image per time. When making for exapmle lyrics videos, it is from time to time hard to add lyrics on the video, because singing is so fast that the texts have to change quickly (and when using transitions it is everything but quick). Also, there's sometimes more than one singer singing a song, and they sing different lyrics at the same time. Therefore, it would be more than nice to have more than one text timelines, so one would be able to add in more text in different time, but on the same image.

Sorry for grammar errors. Hope you understand what I'm trying to explain here. :D

I do understand and I would definitely recommend submitting this suggestion to Microsoft at feedback.live.com.
