If you don't have Vista, but like some of those ShaderTFX effects,
maybe some of that stuff can be cobbled together with multiple effects
or effects and transitions.

You could apply these 2 effects to each photo.
(make sure the rotate is done first)

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033"
SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="@PIP move up from corner to corner " iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, -1.0,0.20,0.60,0.60;
1.00, 1.0,-0.20,1.40,1.40" />
<Param name="Background" value="black" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{B4DC8DD9-2CC1-4081-9B2B-20D7030234EF}">
<Effect name="@Rotate Perspective-60% size" iconid="33"
comment="Ease In">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="0.6" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="0.6" />
<Param name="ExponentialProgressDuration" value="0.01" />
<Param name="RevolveCamera" value="true" />
<Param name="ShowABack" value="true" />
<Param name="progress" value="0.84" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Then transition with a simple fade, or COMP A add B. and you get this.

This is very nice! I used this with 10 short vid clips...and the result was great. Then I played around with it a bit and applied some other effects and got a few really cool looking results. The double and triple adorage effects break up the frame and reassemble it as it crosses the screen...wow, I didn't expect that. And the panning light effects add another visual on the moving vids. Thanks for another great effect to put in my Movie Maker arsenal!

I was looking to experiment with bluescreen a bit with something other than having to take video. First I made two images, one with blue bars horizontal and one with blue bars vertical. I applied various effects to those images...for example I used the PIP move corner to corner from above, at the very start of the linked vid below. It had a cool slide across look that I would use for titling. After I did the various effects, I transitioned a wavy reddish background clip with blue screen and its fun to watch how the bars move and rotate. You might recognize that I used your PIP 9 squares effect too....might be interesting to outline some images with a blue brush color sometime...hmmm....just havin' fun!
