FX Archive Posted: 12 May 2008 10:09 PM |
***** Updated March 8, 2009 ******
Nick (aka Nicholas) and I have created a new website called the FX Archive to serve as a central repository for the custom titles, effects and transitions developed by forum members and to provide links and resources to assist those members wishing to create their own.
The current version of the site contains 891 custom effects and 1019 custom transitions for Windows XP - the vast majoiry of which were created by other forum members. It used fishycomics' master list of custom titles, effects and transitions as a starting point and builds upon the foundation established through his outstanding efforts. You'll see that the site is also a "work in progress" and there's a lot more work that must be done before the next section for XP titles is completed and released.
Please check the site out and use the "Contact Us" page on the site to send us an email with any comments and suggestions on how we might improve the site or to submit any material for inclusion in the FX Archive. |

We hope you will enjoy the site and as Neo said it is still a work in progress, and right now we only have the XP Effects done. |

This is perfect... when I download an effect I already have, will it tell me??? Also, I am looking for a wavy filmstrip template, have you come across this in your experience? |

No, it doesn't tell you when you already have had an effect. If you do, there will be doubles in your titles, transitions, or effects. |

If you go to this website, there is a very cool filmstrip type image.
http://www.berkshirechase.com/pages/famous_frames.html
But how do you implement this into MM2 Keep in mind that
you can really only do 2 clips at a time, and even though you
could overlay the filmstrip image, getting the clip underneath
to look wavy is a question. Perhaps just putting it at an angle
would be enough to complete the illusion.

This is really beautifully done - I love the way you've included demos of each effect.
Thanks

Hi I'm new to this website xD
i want new effects on my WMM So I went to your website you made, FX thing.
I clicked on windows XP and found an effect, clicked download. It downloaded and I tried to open it on WMM but this came up
The file C:\Documents and Settings\Liz\My Documents\My Videos\Install_Custom_XP_Effects_WMTFX_Filter.exe is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

PlushiePuppy, you don't import the file you downloaded into Movie Maker.
Just download the file to your desktop, and double click it. It will install the files you need.
Have fun movie making.

We forgot to mention another thing!
If you want to link to any certain effect on a list, after the url in the address bar just type # followed by the name of the effect. Then when you visit that URL, you are shown that effect. |

Thanks! Only something: when I download the set, after I follow the instructions of the wizard, it opens nothing! then I check Movie Maker and it seems not to have the things i've downloaded... what's happening? |
First I was dissapointed of Moviemaker, but now i've discovered thousands of things I'm impressed! Sorry if I have spelling/grammar mistakes... I'm spanish speaking |

tpinamoviemaker - The wizard simply installs the effects in the AddOnTFX folder. After installing them, open Movie Maker and go to the "Tools" menu and click on "Video Effects". The new effects should now be listed along with your other effects. Also, note that the current effects are only for the Windows XP version of Movie Maker. |

PlushPuppy
C:\Documents and Settings\Liz\My Documents\My Videos\Install_Custom_XP_Effects_WMTFX_Filter.exe is not the right place to even save it. go to this place, C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared, make a folder called AddOnTFX and save it in there |

coolline3 - there's not a problem with where PlushPuppy stored the file as that's an executable file which installs the effects in the proper folder. |

sorry i didn't replied before... it happened that my computer is spanish so instead of being "C:/Program Files...." it was "C:/Archivos de programa" where the TFX folder was... but thanks for reading anyway :) |

I see. I wonder how we should fix that problem. Maybe we could have a language selection? |

Re: FX Archive Posted: 26 Jul 2008 07:35 PM |
I think that a BIG advice is enough... actaully it's not a big problem just open notepad (after you put the xml file) and use the "Search and Replace" (I think that's the name) tool and write:
search: "c:Program Files...."
replace with "c:archivos del programa (or whatever)"
and click replace all...
I think that an advice that explain that would be enough :) |
