Fisheye effect...
Posted: 23 Apr 2008 10:38 PM
This has been asked for before, and here is a different
way to approach the problem. It's interesting at least.
Apply these 4 page curl effects to your video...

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{B4DC8DD9-2CC1-4081-9B2B-20D7030234EF}">
<Effect name="fisheye1" iconid="33">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ShowABack" value="false" />
<Param name="PageCurlA" value="lowerright" />
<Param name="progress" value="0.30" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="fisheye2" iconid="33">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ShowABack" value="false" />
<Param name="PageCurlA" value="upperright" />
<Param name="progress" value="0.30" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="fisheye3" iconid="33">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ShowABack" value="false" />
<Param name="PageCurlA" value="lowerleft" />
<Param name="progress" value="0.30" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="fisheye4" iconid="33">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Simple3D" />
<Param name="ScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="InitialScaleA" value="1.0" />
<Param name="ShowABack" value="false" />
<Param name="PageCurlA" value="upperleft" />
<Param name="progress" value="0.30" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

You may need to shift the order around, MM2 acts strange at times.
If you hate it... oh well.
If you find it interesting, I could create an overlay that covers up
the jagged edges. It's not worth creating an image and posting it
somewhere if no one will use it.

Thanks!

Actually yes I would like an overlay as that would also add the possibilities of having colours for the background. I would also then need the additional coding for it. If possible, thanks!

Catherine,

Here you go. This is one version that could be used.
overlay

Look for the "your file is ready..." hyperlink

I would use PIP+ to overlay it... but a title overlay could be used.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033"
SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - overlay fisheye1" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.00,1.00,1.00,1.0,1.0;
" />
<Param name="Bordera" value="C:\Program Files\Movie
Maker\Shared\fisheye3.png" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Thank you.

I don't know what it is though ... somethings work and some don't. The last bit of code isn't working over here. Yes I have PIP+ and yes I put the overlay in the correct folder.

It's working now! Looks good too.

I turned the computer off for an hour ... then came back and redid all the steps ... and it's working! Computer quirk I guess.

Again, thanks.

Ha... great. I think there is something flaky in the "space" in the XML.
I think posting it like this is better

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="1033"
SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{0BEDE179-3361-4eea-9058-11CBB1739D50}">
<Effect name="PIP Plus Effect - overlay fisheye1" iconid="0">
<Param name="RectA" value=" 0.0, 0.00,0.00,1.00,1.00,1.0,1.0;
" />
<Param name="Bordera" value="C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\fisheye3.png" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

I can't reply to the post under this, so I will try to respond in this post.
So the effect works for you but you would like a different version
of the overlay? I use Photoshop. Other programs will do it, but not Paint.

could you put those 4 effects innto 1 effect, like: fisheye all (dunno :p)

I want it in 1 effect cause I want to get the tv screen-look and to get that I need all 4 effects, BUT when I use the 4 effects to get the tv screen-look I can only 2 more effects, but I want to add 4 effects to it, so all the 4 effects really take space and if it was 1 effect it wouldn't so I can add more effects than just 2 on the clip

I hope there is a way you can do that, cause I tried it with copying and pasting but that didn't work :p

I don't think I can do it as 1 effect, but there is a little trick you can use
to increase the number of effects that can be applied to a single clip.

Add your main clip to the storyboard(stay in the storyboard view), then
add a 2nd clip(any clip) to the storyboard. Apply 5 effects to
the first clip and the rest of the effects to the 2nd clip. Now copy
the effects from the 2nd clip over to the first clip(drag and drop the stars).
This will allow you more than 6 effects on a single clip.
Now you can delete the 2nd clip and reorder the effects if necessary
on your main clip.

hope this helps
