Horizontal Shake effect, and Film Corrosion effect?
Posted: 03 Mar 2008 09:14 PM
(If you've seen the beginning of the 'Closer' music video you'll understand what I'm trying to do.)
(Here it is if you want to see: http://youtube.com/watch?v=QWncI51ggH8)

I've got a static titlecard like the one in 'Closer'. I want to make my own titlecard match as closely to the real one in the 'Closer' video.

I'm already using Film Age Old, but I also was hoping for 2 more effects:
1- I need an effect to shake video left-right. (I have a vertical shake, but I can't figure out how to change it.)

2- Is there an effect to throw dark, medium-to-large sized, random shapes sporadically on a video? (It's looks like the film is corroded.)

Bump. (I guess I wrote too much words.)

I still need effects for:
1- Horizontal shake
2- Film Corrosion

(Sorry for being annoying!)

Was there ever any response to this? I was hoping to get this effect as well.

Thanks

Hi, Jimmy and Mid South.

I've been meaning to try creating a Horizontal Shake effect using Rehan's PIP Plus for some time now. I'll give it a go over the next couple of days, and see if I can get something that works. But it will need the full version of PIP Plus, not the free static version.

PapaJohn's title overlays might be the easiest way to do the corroded-film blobs. Just use your favourite graphics package to create .png images of blobs on a transparent background, and use them in the overlays.

The only drawback is that the shaking effects will only effect the clip, not the overlays. You'll need to do two passes. First just add the overlay blobs, then Publish/Save Movie File, and import the blobby movie back into Movie Maker so you can add the shakiness to that. (And you don't even have to worry about the extra pass lowering the picture quality, because you don't want the picture to look its best anyway!)

Hi again, Jimmy and Mid South.

Here's my first attempt at the horizontal shake effect. Well, it's more of a wobble than a shake. I tried stretching the picture to simulate motion blur as the camera shakes, but it doesn't quite work as I'd hoped. It's still an interesting effect though. Try it and let me know what you think.

1. Copy and paste the code above into Notepad.
2. Save it in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\ as HorizShake.XML
Also, select All Files in the Save As Type.
