Here you go... this is for XP

Sample Video:
SPLIT: Center, Horizontal w/ bars

Step 1 -- Create AddOnTFX folder
1) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared folder
2) If you don't have an AddOnTFX folder, create it with right-click, New Folder.

Step 2 -- Copy the XML code
3) Copy/paste the following XML code into Notepad.
4) Save it in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX as SplitCenterHorizontal.xml

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}">
<Transition name="SPLIT: Center, Horizontal w/ bars" iconid="22" comments="Blaine's Split Horizontal w/ bars, Post #157001">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="22" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.70" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" value="15" />
<Param name="BorderColor" value="0x000000" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Step 3 -- Restart Movie Maker
5) Close Movie Maker and start it again.

Step 4 -- Add your clips and the transition
6) Add your clips to the timeline.
7) Apply effects to either clip (e.g. Grayscale to the first clip)
8) Place the SPLIT: Center, Horizontal w/ bars' transition between the two clips.
9) Drag the transition (timeline view) so that both clips overlap as much as possible.
10) Preview and save your movie.

Doh! I mistyped the name... it's actually called 'SPLIT: Center, Horizontal w/ bars'. I've fixed it in the post above.

Hi Blaine, sorry for barging in. I just saw your vid sample of the split transition and I must say it is perfectly smooth and nice. And the borders are equal than the other split transition that I download. Can you teach me how to modify this split transition like yours? Thanks in advance.
