How to save to VCD?
Posted: 12 May 2005 11:32 AM
why does Movie Maker not have the option to save to VCD? and how can I save to a VCD? I have been trying to edit with Movie maker then save it to VCD with Video Edit Magic Express 4.03 but when I do.. the video display size shrinks to very small and the quality sucks.. I am trying to edit home movies then save them to VCD... they look great after I capture them with Dazzle 150 hardware... and edit them with Movie Maker 5.1 But when they are converted
with Video Edit Magic Express 4.03 to MPEG to play on VCD the quality is gone and the display size is very small.. what am I doing wrong? Anyone out there can help me?

Welcome to the forum oedor.

This is how I make VCDs

1. Using Movie Maker, Save Movie as "Best quality for my computer" i.e. a .WMV file
2. Using TMPGEnc, convert the .WMV file to MPEG-1 i.e. a .MPG file
3. Using VCDEasy, author and burn the VCD.

You can also use later versions of Nero to make VCDs from the WMV files or MPG files.

Search this forum for "VCD" for more hints.

TMPGEnc for MWV to MPEG-1 encoding

VCDEasy for VCD authoring and burning.
Last free version was 1.1.5.2
http://www.videohelp.com/download/VCDEasy_v1.1.5.2_Setup.exe
You may also need the Nero wnaspi32.dll to burn the disk from within VCDEasy.
ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll
Just copy it into the VCDEasy/CdrDao directory

To avoid burning coasters, I suggest you use CD-RW disks for trials and use CDRs when you are happy with the final result.

I use Firefox+Greasemonkey scripts for easier editing of forum posts, FAQs and displaying embedded images Wink
