down the highway
Posted: 24 Apr 2005 01:55 AM
As I was starting to make a cube, I thought I could do this.
It took every trick in the book to make it even look
half way decent, and even still there are artifacts that
could be cleaned up. I used PIP+ and title overlays and
chroma keying, and camera rotate. So what is it worth?
Not much maybe. Might be interesting to film a billboard
along the highway or along a busy street, and use that
for your PIP.
The first PIP uses true perspective change...
the 2nd is just an overlay.
A tip...if you are using PIP+ to track one clip over another,
use the opacity setting to allow transparency. It beats
saving your movie, importing it, and then applying
chroma key just to see what you have.

Cool. Would be so neat if the same thing could be done with a transparent animated gif!

Well, you can do it today...but it just doesn't
look as clean as it could.

This isn't really an animated GIF, but it would work just the same way.

Hi, appears that the file has expired on yousendit.com

Would you be so kind as to re-submit it? I'm quite curious to see what you are talking about.

Cool.. thanks for the link.

I am going to see whether I can reproduce the same effect with a ufo or something.

Ok...couple of suggestion. Don't use black in your spaceship,
and make it a transparent GIF. The background will become black.
Change Rehan's supplied "PIP Plus Effect Example" in the XML file
to use a black background, or create a Example2 using black.
Restart and apply that effect to your spaceship. It will move around
in black space. Then just use the black overlay transition to put it
on your image. It's pretty simple.
Here is another sample, using a true transparent animated GIF.

Some guy sent this GIF to me...it's a nice one for this application.

What's this camera rotate thing all about? I'd like to use it, but I need to know how it works, whatcan be done with it, and the values it can take e.t.c...

I understood everything save for the fact that I don't know what the black overlay thing is.

I got this from someone else and made some adjustments.
All 3 reduce to 50%(scale params). The first 2 just alter perspective
(progress param). The last one rotates the image.(showaback param)
