Wizard of Oz or Brady Bunch

i would like to try these as a project, one being the brady opening grid full opening from the show, and the wizard of oz where it would be me filming my window but add the tornado with the witch cow chickens etc flying around, please help me with this or give me some insight it would be appreciated

Film yourself infront of a blue or greenscreen and cut that other stuff in the background.

how do u cut it so it fits i havent found a program to cut parts of videos

Hi,
For the Wizard of Oz effect, he is referring to
chroma keying, and it is not that simple. I have
not seen too many samples from people doing
it with video. I had to get great lighting and a flat
blue paint that doesn't reflect the light. A real
blue screen can be expensive. For your needs,
and for best results(IMO), this is how I would do it.

Set up your camera on a tripod, and film in front
of your window. Make sure the window is framed
squarely, and make sure your actors do not
move in front of the window, but they can be
beside it, looking toward it, and showing reactions
while looking out.
Load your clip in to movie maker.

If you have a program like photoshop...then do this step:
Take a snapshot of some point in the clip(anywhere
will do...because the window will always be in the
exact same location.) Load that snapshot into
photoshop(or whatever you have), crop out around
your window frame, and cut out the glass portion.
Save this image as a transparent PNG.

Using something like PIP or PIP+, create
a transition that puts a 2nd clip exactly over the
spot where your window is. This may take a few
adjustments to get the PIP set up just right.
Now you have your window clip and a 2nd clip
runnng in the window.

If you were able to make the transparent PNG,
use title overlays to put that over the top of
everthing...and that will clean up the edges, return
the sash and munions, and make it look more like
it is happeniong outside a window.

I now that I have glossed over some of this
stuff... but this gives you a general idea of how I
would do it. Others may offer a better way

Well, it's not really my intent to charge for sevices,
and we both would get more value out of the deal if
I was able to help you succed on your own. Now, having
said that....I also don't want to be drawn into a lengthy
frustrating process, especially since this is remote.
However, if you send me your clip....or a portion
of it, I can have a go at getting started, show
you some samples and transitions , and that may help.

When it is finished(it may take a while), it will give you a web

Ok, got it.
I think this is doable...but there are a couple problems
You did move your hand in front of the blinds...so that
may look bad at times. You have blinds...you there is
nothing to salvage by making a PNG file. You may have
to make your own window frame.
So, let me put together a PIP transition, and start with that.
Not sure when I will have something for you.

Also, keep in mind....we don't know what tricks they
used for this movie. It could have been as simple
as running a projector on a screen outside the window.
But...whatever. We have some limitations. That is why
I am concerned about the hand in front of the window.
A blue screen would be the answer when you want to
move in front of the screen, but again.....it's tough
and moving objects get the jaggies with MM.
So...we are stuck with what works best.

hey i appreciate your help alot, yeah if my hand gets messed up im sorry i couldnt judge i was filming by myself, i mean it doesnt have to be the greatest but i know your work and im sure it will do the justice for me and other people who want the same idea, i am so grateful for you doing this you have no idea i just always wanted to see what its like

What do plan to have in the window?
Since you sent me the WoO clip, I am
thinking you want the witch. Or did you
have something else in mind?
If you want the witch, you need Rehan's
Pan and Zoom effects. Even though I have
Pixelans crop effects...the Pan and Zoom
(with progress parm added) is the best way
to crop out Dorthy.

Ok..first, I gave you a nice Pella window.
You can still see the curtain, since the glass is
transparent, but your video will replace the
curtain. As you can see...the "talent" messes
things up when he moves his hand in front
of the window, which actually goes behind
That same thing will happen when you add the PIP.
So...here is your new window, done with a
title overlay. I matched the perspective of
your original window...so it is at an angle.

wow thank you now to add the video? i still dont get how i can do that because wouldnt the video be cut weird? like you wouldnt see the witch flying just like parts because of the positioning? i dunno ? ha sorry im confusing you? are u working on the witch part?

I will create a transition for you...so you can put the
video in...but I am going to leave the witch video
up to you. And yes, there is no way to avoid problems
with the witch... you get what you can.
Like I said...you need to get Rehan's
Pan and Zoom. Add this bit of XML code

When you install Rehan's Pan Zoom effects, you should
see a number of "zoom into" effects. Zoom into A, zoom
into B, etc. These effects slowly "zoom" into the location
specified on this matrix

D E F
G H I
Zoom into E has the same effect as cropping off
all the edges of the clip. Zoom into B would have
the effect of cropping of the bottom.
The XML code I gave you freezes the progress
at a certain point, thus cropping the video but
skipping the pan(I would say it skips the zoom,
but technically we do zoom in, we start out
zoomed in)

Anyway, I gave you a zoom into E-hold(add that
effect to you clip 3 times) and a zoom into B-hold
Add that twice.

However, I may need to rethink the window. There is a
even bigger problem with it. It is soooo rectangular.
Not a very good window for playing a movie.
You're gonna to need a bigger window...to
paraphrase Roy Scheider.

and the PIP window needs to shift right.
The transition is better like this:

i can get the transparency of the window to work with the original oz video but not to mine , like i cant add them both

Ok...How are you doing it?
The transparency should end up on the Title transparency
line(in timeline view). You then move and stretch it to
how you want it. Make it long enough to overlay what you need.
Keep in mind that as you do the PIP transition,
they become one.

Here is what the final can look like. And it has sound.

You can "view" it from my PC, but I didn't
want to send the file, since I want you see you stay at it.
I think it turned out pretty well, even if I do say so myself.
