Translucent transitions

I downloaded the transitions bundle on this site and found quite a few translucent effects (also called see through or visibility effects). However they are all sudden when the clips begin to change as the new clip appears out of nowhere and the old clip suddenly becomes transparent (and as such lighter)

Are there any translucent transitions where there is a fade in at the start and end?

Hi. Just add a Fade In From Black effect on the second clip.

after you apply the fade from one clip to the next....stretch out the fade longer....the images will appear over each other longer as you overlap more.

I could make a transition go from no transparency to partial transparency in Vista, but can't easily think of a way in XP...

Can be done easily with PipPlus. Study the Blend example in the samples that come with PipPlus.
