Changing zoom speed on Rehan's pan effect
Posted: 18 Aug 2007 08:43 PM
I've got here a small part of Rehan's pan effect script and I was wondering how I can change it to make the zoom speed faster/slower? I tried changing the values in param name, but they seem to be talking about the x,y location instead of speed. Thanks!

<Param name="Y1" value="0.0" />
<Param name="Size1" value="0.75" />

Actually, what I really want to do is I have a picture, and I would like the script to first zoom to C at the speed I want it to be at and freeze at point C for a certain amount of time, and then slowly zoom out to E and then zooming to G, staying there, and then zooming out to E

A B C
D E F
G H I

Anyone know a possible way for me to do that? I still havn't found a method yet...

Help appreciated, thanks!!!!!

With the Pan Zoom plugin you need to do this in steps. Breaking up each move in "From" to "To" points.

1. Zoom To C (already in the package), the speed depends on the length of the clip.
2. Freeze at C (same as RPZ Fixed C)
3. Pan from C to E (use "R75 Zoom Out from C")
4. Pan from E to G (use "R75 Zoom in to G")
5. Staying at G ("RPZ Fixed G")
6. Zoom out to E (use "R75 Zoom Out from G")

All of these are already present in the downloadable package.

If you are using a video clip then you need to Split the clip in six sub clips and apply the corresponding effects to these sub clips. If it is to be applied to a still image, then just place six copies of the image in the time line and pply the mentioned effects.

For step 3, 4, and 6 perhaps you wanted more fine-tuned effects which you may need to make anew. The following implments "Pan C to E", "Pan E to G" and "Pan G to E" movements:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" SpecialIconFileID="2000"
SpecialIconResourceID="101">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{4B4670E6-4512-4bec-BED1-57A017078ECC}">
<Effect name="*R75 Pan C to E" iconid="0">
<Param name="X1" value="0.25" />
<Param name="Y1" value="0.0" />
<Param name="Size1" value="0.75" />
<Param name="X2" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Y2" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Size2" value="0.75" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="*R75 Pan E to G" iconid="0">
<Param name="X1" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Y1" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Size1" value="0.75" />
<Param name="X2" value="0.0" />
<Param name="Y2" value="0.25" />
<Param name="Size2" value="0.75" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="*R75 Pan G to E" iconid="0">
<Param name="X1" value="0.0" />
<Param name="Y1" value="0.25" />
<Param name="Size1" value="0.75" />
<Param name="X2" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Y2" value="0.125" />
<Param name="Size2" value="0.75" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

And also, how do I make them zoom in even more? I'm playing around with the coordinates right now hoping it would work. Thx
