Ask for your XP transitions, effects, and titles here! - THREAD NOW CLOSED
Posted: 11 Aug 2007 01:21 PM
This thread is now closed, and I am only accepting requests via the Contact me page on my website now.

Here you can request effects, transitions, or titles for XP Windows Movie Maker, and I can try to create them. It might take me a while to complete your request, but I will try. If I can't figure out how to make it, I will post to tell you. I will always reply to all requests.

Here are the instructions for all XML in this thread:
1. Copy and paste the code into Notepad. (Start\All Programs\Accessories\Notepad)
2. Save it in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\ with .XML after the filename. Also, select All Files in the Save As Type.
3. Restart Movie Maker.

You will see XML code in blue which means it only works in XP.
Code in navy is a section of a longer code.
If you see XML code in purple, the code is for Vista only.

OK, how about Quiznation inspired titles and a effect that tints the screen gold?

Here are the gold tint effects you requested. I tried to find as many as a could, so you can have a choice between them.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{B4DC8DD9-2CC1-4081-9B2B-20D7030234EF}">
<Effect name="Gold Tint1" iconid="25" comment="Yellow Filter">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Desaturate" value="True" />
<Param name="Yellow" value="0.8" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Gold Tint2" iconid="25" comment="Purple Filter">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Desaturate" value="True" />
<Param name="Red" value="0.8" />
<Param name="Yellow" value="0.8" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Gold Tint3" iconid="25" comment="Hue, Orange">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Hue" />
<Param name="Value" value="0.6" />
<Param name="EndValue" value="0.6" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Gold Tint4" iconid="25" comment="CSI:Miami sepia">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Desaturate" value="false" />
<Param name="Red" value="0.1" />
<Param name="Green" value="-0.2" />
<Param name="Blue" value="-1" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Gold Tint5" iconid="25" comment="CSI:Miami sepia3">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Desaturate" value="false" />
<Param name="Red" value="0.1" />
<Param name="Green" value="-0.2" />
<Param name="Blue" value="-0.35" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Look at my first post for instructions. These will appear in the effects menu as "Gold Tint 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5".

Watch http://youtube.com/watch?v=CKen7bhz8VI for a look at a game to make a title of. Here's a description of the show straight from the wikipedia article.
quiznation is a live interactive game show on GSN. The official host is Shandi Finnessey, with Angelle Tymon, Jessica York and Jeff Thisted filling in. Featured in the two-hour program are interactive games where the viewers can win cash prizes. The show airs from 12 midnight - 2 a.m. Eastern every Wednesday night through Sunday night (technically early Thursday through early Monday morning in the Eastern Time zone). The program is nearly identical to the original PlayMania.

Sorry, but I don't think you can do that in WMM. But, if you looked I got the Gold tints.

Well, I tried to fill your request... Sorry, but nobody on the forums has accomplished creating a clock, and no one knows how. What type of red effect were you looking for?

Is this what you were looking for?

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{B4DC8DD9-2CC1-4081-9B2B-20D7030234EF}">
<Effect name="Red Filter" iconid="20" comment="Red Filter">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Desaturate" value="true" />
<Param name="Red" value="0.8" />
</Effect>
<Effect name="Negative Filter" iconid="20" comment="Negative Filter">
<Param name="InternalName" value="Standard" />
<Param name="Invert" value="-1.0" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Use instructions in my first post to save the code above. Then, open WMM. First, apply the Grayscale effect to your video. Then apply the Negative Filter to your video. Then apply the Red Filter to your video. Is this what you wanted?

Is there any other way to "clone" somebody without using Comp A add B?

You can't actually 'clone' someone, but you could try the split-screen transition...

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="{DE75D012-7A65-11D2-8CEA-00A0C9441E20}">
<Transition name="SPLIT: Vertical 1:2" iconid="41">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="1" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.33" />
</Transition>
<Transition name="SPLIT: Vertical 2:1" iconid="41">
<Param name="MaskNum" value="1" />
<Param name="Progress" value="0.66" />
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Look for instructions in my first post. Apply this transition between two of the same clips, and make the transition as long as you can. This is probably not what you're looking for, but that is all you can make.

Sorry, but WMM isn't like for 'big time' movies. Cloning is kinda on the fantasy side...

Hi Nicholas is there a way I/you can modify the "Fade Wipe" effect to have outlined text?
I know I need to change the ShadowOutline value to Outline but I can't seem to find the xml for this title.

First I'll get HeisOne, then spirit.mage...

HeisOne- You cannot find the XML for the titles that came with WMM. You have to go to Rehan's Custom Titles website. There you can download the XML for those titles. You should then be able to find the Fade,Wipe title, and modify it. Then you can save it to th AddOnTFX folder as usual.

Hi Nicholas

I have modified the Fade Wipe effect within "Titles2.xml and then pasted "Titles2.xml" into the AddonTFX folder, but there is no change in effect..

Try changing the name of the title... change it in this parameter in the XML:

<Title name="make a new name here" iconid="13">

Also, I fixed the link above to Rehan's page. Also be sure that when you added the parameter for the Shadow outline it looks like this:

<Param name="ShadowOutline" value="and in this value either put Shadow, Outline, or none" />

Hi Nicholas the only thing I didn't do was to rename the title name, but after doing so there is still no change in effect nor is the modified title in the list. Below is the modified title:

<Title name="Fade Wipe Outlined" iconid="13" >
<Param name="InternalName" value="TitleStandard"/>
<Param name="Description" value="Fades, wipes left to right"/>
<Paragraph>
<Param name="ShadowOutline" value="Outline"/>
<Param name="EntranceDuration" value="1.0"/>
<Param name="ExitDuration" value="1.0"/>
<Param name="EntranceEffect" value="EffectFadeWipe"/>
<Param name="ExitEffect" value="EffectFadeWipe"/>
</Paragraph>
</Title>

Oh, wait... I think you forgot the first 3 lines of the XML... try this one.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Titles>
<TitleDLL guid="{353359C1-39E1-491b-9951-464FD8AB071C}">

<Title name="Fade Wipe Outlined" iconid="13" >
<Param name="InternalName" value="TitleStandard"/>
<Param name="Description" value="Fades, wipes left to right with outline"/>
<Paragraph>
<Param name="ShadowOutline" value="Outline"/ >
<Param name="EntranceDuration" value="1.0"/>
<Param name="ExitDuration" value="1.0"/>
<Param name="EntranceEffect" value="EffectFadeWipe"/>
<Param name="ExitEffect" value="EffectFadeWipe"/>
</Paragraph>
</Title>
</TitleDLL>
</Titles>
