Speed voice effects wmm 6.0 to wmm 5.1 (scripts)
Posted: 27 Jun 2007 04:00 AM
Hi.

I try to make an effect about the speed:

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0" >
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}">
<Effect name="My Effect" iconid="31" >
<Param name="Speed" value="1.8" />
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

The effect appears on the list but doesn´t work when I apply it to a video.The speed is the same (1.0) instead of 1.8.

I have windows movie maker 5.1 sp2 windows xp . I want to put voices effects speed like in windows movie maker 6.0 for vista to my windows movie maker 5.1.
If you have the exact script of voice effects in 6.0 can you send me for 5.1?
Because I have notice that voice effects speed are diferent between version 5.1 and 6.0. I prefer effects in 6.0
Thanks

Try this.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="1.0">
<Effects>
<EffectDLL guid="{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}">
<Effect name="speed+10" iconid="32" speed="1.8" comment="Speed up 10%">
</Effect>
</EffectDLL>
</Effects>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

It works thanks-
However i have noticed when i slow the speed for example to 0.8 , the voices (especially male) are like "dark vader" voice.I remember that in windows movie maker 6 "the dark vader" voice don´t exist when slowing down video.
Can I have a voice without "dark vader" when slowing the speed?

No, because when you slow down the video, you slow down their voices too.

Also when you spped up a video, you speed up any voices that are in the video.

Oh, and also, you don't have 5.1 you have 2.1. Look lower on the version info...

This is one of the noted differences between 2.1 (XP) and 6.0 (Vista) that the speed effects in XP affect the pitch of the audio (slower=Vader, faster=Alvin and the Chipmunks). In Vista the developers changed this behavior so it attempts to maintain the original pitch.

If you would like to maintain the pitch of the voice in XP, you'll have to do it in another program. You could, for example, extract the audio as a .wav file, then run it through Audacity. It has the ability to change speed, but keep the pitch the same. Then you would use this audio instead of the vader/chipmunk audio in Movie Maker.
