Sorry Zim, it's very strange but WMM6 doesn't have "Param name" for border color as I found in the MSDN WMM6 database.

Yes but with ShaderTFX you can use color borders and re-create this XP transition.

You'd need a registered version to do it though. Essentially it would be a vertical wipe with a red border.

Re: color bar wipe

The following code is for a single color. For the multiple color version, look later in this thread
Color Bars (Multiple Colors)

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8">
<Transitions>
<TransitionDLL guid="ShaderTFX.ShaderTransition">
<Transition name="Color Bar Wipe: Red" iconid="55" comments="movies.blainesville.com - post 242785" guid="Color Bar Wipe: Red" ShaderModel="2">
<Param name="TextureFile" value="%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX\gradientwipe.png" />
<Param name="Technique" value="SMPTEWipeTechnique" />
<Param name="ShaderFilename" value="Shader.fx" />
<Semantics>
<Param name="BorderSoftness" type="float" value="50" />
<Param name="BorderColor" type="color" value="0xFF0000" />
<Param name="BorderWidth" type="float" value="5" />
</Semantics>
</Transition>
</TransitionDLL>
</Transitions>
</TransitionsAndEffects>

Copy/paste the code above and save it as colorwipe.xml somewhere on your computer (say Desktop or Documents, you can't save them in the AddOnTFX folder directly because Windows is trying to protect anything under Program Files.)
Download the gradientwipe.png and save it in the same location.

Now copy those two files and place them in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX

Assuming you've got a registered version of ShaderTFX and you have followed all the steps correctly, you should have a new transition called 'Color Bar Wipe: Red'.

Sorry, these don't use the standard WMM effects. It would be custom coding and it's not a direct translation.

Okay, here's a modified version with multiple colors and horizontal wipes (in addition to the vertical wipes):

If you have a registered version of ShaderTFX, then you can use the following.

<TransitionsAndEffects Version="2.8">

Download the two images below and save them in the same location.
gradientwipe.png
gradientwipe2.png

Now copy those three files and place them in C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\Shared\AddOnTFX

Assuming you've got a registered version of ShaderTFX and you have followed all the steps correctly, you should have 18 new transitions:
Color Bar Vertical: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, White and Brown
Color Bar Horizontal: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, White and Brown

i saved the xml to my desktop then moved it to the AddOnTFX and i did the same thing with the png files also saved the xml as colorwipes.xml and saved the png files as gradientwipe.png and gradientwipe2.png but the Transition is just a black screen do you save the Transition as xml first then go to the spot you saved it to then rename it colorwipes and do you do the same thing with the png files save it as .png first then rename it gradientwipe
or dose it matter

You should copy/paste the code into Notepad and save as colorwipes.xml.
You should download the two pictures and keep them named gradientwipe.png and gradientwipe2.png.
Move them all to the AddOnTFX folder.

Can you let me know if any of them work (say the horizontal ones)? I think I might have made a typo and had uppercase in the image file for the vertical wipes. I fixed it now but I haven't had a chance to get to my Windows 7 machine to test it.

As for your prior query on the 'Glow Effect' in XP, have you taken a look at Patrick's Color Glow Effects? You can find a link in the pinned post for Vista Transitions/Effects.

Does anyone know the link to the original thread, I'm on XP, and I've seen these transitions on YouTube, with more directions and colours so if anyone has the link that would be great!
